We loved our guided kayak tour, and got to see Sea Otters, Pelicans, Seals and Jelly Fish up close. Jake was a great tour guide and knew so much about the animals, and ecosystem we explored. For anyone worried about sharks, the tour doesn't go in waters deep enough for sharks to be concerned about.

This is a nice recreational kayak place. Elkhorn slough has a abundant wildlife including sea otters, seals, perlican, and other sea birds. One nice thing in this kayak place is that it is easy to hop on a kayak because it starts from a deck instead of beach.

Unpleasant experience in a closed kayak for a tall person, cannot keep both feet on the steers and unable to bend knees in the closed space to get adjusted or get on the steers safely. The staff should be better trained to recommend either a bigger kayak or open top depending on participants, can be a safety issue. Overall, we would do this again but would hope that there is better attention to best options for visitors.

The staff are lovely here. So kind and knowledgeable. The gear is in great shape. We rented to sit in double kayaks- the spray skirts are necessary to keep you dry. We had two adults and two kids under ten. We saw harbor seals with their babies, otters with babies and lots of birds. The pelicans were fishing around us too. The double kayaks we had offered a different which made starring in light wind easier. We had a fantastic time.

Hey there! So sorry for the late answer, but if you're still curious: we rent paddle boards in our Santa Cruz location at 413 Lake Avenue. It's a great way to see the Harbor and (on calm days) head out into the ocean. Because the sea otters have been so scared of the height of people on SUPs, the wind can be very aggressive in the Sloug, and the water is pretty yucky to fall into, we stopped our SUP rentals in Moss Landing. Hope this helps and again, sorry for the late reply!
Absolutely! We have a full line of fishing kayaks, sea kayaks, and sit-on-tops from top quality manufacturers like Hobie, Ocean Kayak, Old Town, Wilderness Systems, Dagger, and many more. Give us a call and we'll help fit you to the perfect kayak for you.
Yes, really research the tides, weather and wind, and know if a big storm is rolling in! Not good kayaking then! But sometimes Jan can be beautiful & perfectly still waters. Yes! Dress in lots of layers...and quick drying clothes! Good luck!
The water temp is typically in the mid 50's to low 60's - you certainly wouldn't want to go for a long swim, but it's not really a factor in our warm and cozy kayaks!
All of our kayaks have full seats by Ocean Kayak, Sea to Summit or have a the seat from the manufacturer. You should be well supported! See you soon.
We have four hour options in Moss Landing starting at $40 for a single and one-hour options in our Santa Cruz location. Kids can be in doubles with their parents, but must be 15 to operate a single. Best to call the individual shop to hear about their practices and procedures.

Hey there! We like to keep the weight around 350lbs. This way if any rescuing after capsize were to occur, we are more likely to be able to assist our customer back into the kayak.
Once you have booked a tour either online or through a phone call to our Shop, you go to that location on the day and time of the tour and check in. There's a small amount of paperwork, you meet your naturalist guide and then you start to gear up for the tour! Hope this helped and happy paddling!
