Yes, really research the tides, weather and wind, and know if a big storm is rolling in! Not good kayaking then! But sometimes Jan can be beautiful & perfectly still waters. Yes! Dress in lots of layers...and quick drying clothes! Good luck!
My husband and I kayaked on January 1 one year. A beautiful day.
January can be an amazing time to be on the water, depending on the weather. The biggest factor will be wind - just keep an eye on the forecast. Anything over 10 mph can make for a challenging paddle. A little rain can actually be wonderful, as it cuts down on the crowds and you get to see the wildlife from a new perspective. Just dress warmly and in layers of quick-dry clothing and you’ll be fine. Let us know if you have any other questions, and thanks for your interest!
