Great people, doing great work to make sure animals find good homes.

Clean and neat but there was a lot of open stalls , 8 wished they take in more animals and give them a chance to be seen and stand a chance to be adopted. The staff was decently friendly in helping, the doggo pens were dirty with poop a d water bowls looked empty, hopefully the staff and volunteers do more often shift to check in and clean up and replace them, there were volunteers there but they were all just playing with the cats....

I just picked up my new kitten from their facility. Helpful staff, well taken care of animals, and generally a nice place. Make an appointment in advance due to COVID. Recommended!

This is a wonderful place to adopt a pet. The staff is amazing and very helpful and professional. We got our two cats there a year and a half ago. Please check it out soon..kittens available!

Hi Jessicah, we do post recent adoption pics on social media on a regular basis!
Hi Katie, You have to be 13 to volunteer at SVACA with a parent or guardian. However, we have a program called Kiddies 2 Kitties, in partnership with Palo Alto Humane Society, where you can come to the shelter the first and third Wednesday of the month from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. and read to the kittens. More can be found here: http://svaca.com/home/showdocument?id=15532
Hello Naresh, SVACA covers the cities of Campbell, Monte Sereno, Mountain View and Santa Clara. If you found the cat in one of these cities, please call our office at 408-764-0344 and they can advise you.
It was probably a coyote, not a wolf. You can call Animal Control in Palo Alto.
Maybe she is allergic to something in the house. Try asking a vet near you

Hello Yamille, In 2021, SVACA achieved a 98% overall live release rate and saved all healthy and treatable animals. 99% of dogs, 98% of cats, and 100% of 'other' animals were saved. These figures meet how "no kill" shelters are often measured; all healthy and treatable animals or at least 90% saved. So yes, SVACA far exceeds the minimum save rate to qualify as a "no kill" facility.
Hello Ramon, If you live in Campbell, Monte Sereno, Mountain View or Santa Clara you can contact us to discuss surrendering your cat. You can also learn more about the process here: https://www.svaca.com/services/animal-surrender
Hi Aditi, Thank you for thinking of SVACA! We can always use towels as long as they aren't frayed or torn. We don't use bed sheets. You can drop off donations at 3370 Thomas Road during business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Thanks!
Hello Bernadette, Thank you for asking-- while we don't currently have any free pets to adopt, we are running our Slam Dunk adoption special and the adoption fee for select animals is $30. That includes their spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea and worming meds and a microchip. Please check out https://www.svaca.com/adoptions for available animals!
Hello Carol, Please see our website for information on lost animals including any fees. https://www.svaca.com/services/lost-and-foundsv
Hello Dima, When you adopt an animal from SVACA, you will want to establish a relationship with a veterinarian for both wellness visits and when they are ill. Many of the veterinarians in the community offer free first exams to adopters. After the first exam, you can expect to pay for any subsequent services. SVACA does not operate a full-service veterinary clinic.
Hi Reba, What city is the colony in? We serve the cities of Campbell, Monte Sereno, Mountain View and Santa Clara.
Where are you located at? You need to take the cat to your nearest animal shelter, They will help you.
Hi Duncan, SVACA has a great volunteer program, however, it is currently suspended due to COVID-19. Check out SVACA.com frequently for updates!

Hi Denis, It would depend on where the cat was found. SVACA offers animal services for the cities of Campbell, Monte Sereno, Mountain View and Santa Clara. If the cat is in another city, you would need to look up the agency that services that city. Hope that helps! If the cat was found in one of our cities, you may bring it to SVACA, check our website (SVACA.com) or call us for more detailed information.
Sophia, it's totally worth the fee because it covers lots more than just the adoption itself. From their website: Fees cover the spay or neuter of the animal, initial appropriate vaccinations, a professional health examination and behavior evaluation, microchip, temporary ID tag, and a free examination at a participating local veterinary clinic. SVACA member city residents also receive a license for their new companion. All fees are retained by SVACA and used to offset the cost of our operations; simply said, fees directly help the animals.
Hello Jeff, We're sorry to hear that your cat recently passed away. Our regular adoption fee for an adult cat (6 months or older) is $100, and a kitten (under 6 months) is $150. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchips and more. Please check out our website for more information and to see animals available for adoption. http://svaca.com/adoptions
Hi Deah, yes, we can take the donation of a crate. You can drop it during our business hours. http://svaca.com/about-us/hours-and-location
Hi Regina, thanks for thinking of SVACA for a donation of dog food. Unfortunately, we don't accept opened bags.
Hello Chloe, In 2018, 95% of the animals received at our cageless Animal Care Center were saved. The definition of a no-kill shelter is one that saves all healthy, treatable and rehabilitatable animals. Shelters with a save rate of 90% or higher are typically rated as no-kill. SVACA does have a no-kill status.
Not as a general policy, however, watch for promotions where they reduce the cost of their adoption fees. The website will offer that information.
Hello! Please check out our adoption page at http://svaca.com/adoptions. We also currently have many select animals available for our Summer Kickoff special at 50% off their regular adoption fees!
No, they do not take dogs out of the enclosure area for liability reasons as far as I know. You can however volunteer to play with them on location and help socialize them for adoption. It is something I do and it is quite rewarding
Hello Katie, We post all adopted animals on our Facebook page. You can follow us at https://www.facebook.com/SVACAPETS/ to see adopted animals!
We have a program called Kiddies 2 Kitties, in partnership with Palo Alto Humane Society. The program is held on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Kids can bring a book and read to the animals!
They always let you bring in donations
Hello Elia, please contact Sunnyvale Animal Control at 408-730-7178. While SVACA does not serve the City of Sunnyvale, it is important to check all the area animal shelters when looking for your lost dogs. More information here: http://svaca.com/services/lost-and-found
Hello Rogelio, yes you can. You would need to attend a volunteer orientation and if you are under the age of 18, you must attend and volunteer with a parent or guardian. Please see our Volunteer page on the website for more information: http://svaca.com/how-to-help/volunteers.

Hello Yen, You can volunteer for SVACA. You'll need to attend an orientation. We hold those once a month. Please see our website for more information and to sign up for eNotify. http://svaca.com/how-to-help/volunteers
Yes
Hi Denelle, We're sorry to hear your Mother can no longer care for her cat. If you are a resident of Campbell, Mountain View, Monte Sereno or Santa Clara, please call the shelter at 308-764-0344 during our business hours and our staff can further advise.
Yes, SVACA takes clean towels that are in good condition (not frayed). No rags, please! Thanks!
To declaw a cat is wrong and I think against the law. It's a Inhumane thing to do. To leave a kitty defenseless is wrong. People who want to declaw should not have a cat. There is other ways to stop a cat from clawing furniture. For one a spray bottle with water. That's always worked for me and I've had lots of cats .
Yes
Hello Carolyn, Please call our office at 408-764-0344 for more information.
I think 18 but call them, I'm only a volunteer as well.
Please, rephrase your question. Are you asking about adoption fee or reclaiming fee? Or about licensing? Or about spay-neuter? Or vaccination? Dogs, cats and small animals are not for sale, they are for adoption, adoption fee covers certain things, but you, as a potential adopter should be ready and committed to have dome funds put aside for regular vet visits, good food and so on.
Super easy. Just a form. I got my lovely kitten there. I love this place.
I do not know if they have guinea pigs. Call them and ask them.
Also you can call the place
You should call the animal control
