These are pictures of the train museum near the Santa Clara University Amtrak station. It is open on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free and open to the public. It's a fun place to take kids to help get them interested in model trains. It's also a great place for people to hang out and today there was a group of musicians that had gathered to play and sing together.

Its a good looking station. Bike racks, wheelchair accessible, waiting areas. Its in a really nice area right next to the university. Easy to get to from palo alto and connects to many different services. Its so refreshing seeing trains other than Amtrak. Its a service everyone should try if they get a chance.

This station is a big transfer point for many transportation services, Amtrak Capitol Corridor, ACE train, Caltrain, and VTA buses. Parking can be limited, especially at 9am.
There is a train at 845 and 945 pm from SJC, which reaches SF downtown at 1020 and 1120pm respectively. It reaches Santa Clara at 850 and 950pm.
Caltrain owns the lot, it's $5.50 per 24/hr period. You can buy a parking pass at the Caltrain tickets vending machine (TVM) OR on the Caltrain App. Either option, make sure you take note of the spot # your parked in. On the app, also you'll need to choose "Santa Clara" for the station. Parking enforcement is conducted regularly by San Mateo County police Transit Bureau so don't skip out on paying.
