We adopted Zinfandel in sept 2021. We had been searching for the PERFECT fit for us. She is the sweetest cat. The workers at Animal Friends were amazing. We didn't know very much of her background. she leaped out of her carrier as soon as we got home, and wanted loving right away. She is just so wonderful. We are lucky to have found her. She is very loved, just such a great kitty. Thank you all at Animal Friends....

The absolute best place to take your furbabies. You can tell they love animals and take great care of them while in their care. Just got my cat fixed and had a wide range of things done while she was there. The price was fantastic considering other vets I called they wanted over $100 just for vaccines. I paid that maybe a little more for a lot more services and care. Just because you pay less doesn't mean you get less care either. I drove over 45 minutes to take my furbaby here. Will continue to take all future pets here and will recommend anyone to use Animal Friends.

One of the nicest rescue groups/animal shelters I've ever been to. It is beautiful, CLEAN, and extremely organized. You can tell that the staff genuinely care. Our rescue was chipped, vet checked and fully vaccinated, and even had a Fi collar because he was a puppy mill rescue. Worth a visit if you're a responsible pet owner looking to adopt, and worth every penny of your donation if you are so inclined.

All places charge out the butt to put down an animal 😞 . I don't want my kitty to suffer anymore and I plan to bury him next to the other cat .
Yes! It's this coming weekend's Home for the Holidays" event, 12/16 & 12/17. Pets are 'priceless' for all shelter residents. It would be a good idea to fill out your application online before you go. It will be a busy weekend. These events allow Animal Friends to make room to rescue more animals from open door shelters.
Yes... In fact they will not let you adopt without all the people and pets in your home meeting in their facility with the new dog first.
Yes, call them and take it in.
Best thing to do is call them. 412-847-7000
Check their website. They keep it up-to-date on what dogs they have
Definitely! It is encouraged. They have several events put on just for enjoyment . The 'Bun Run' on Saturdays is a favorite with kids and adults alike. Check out the EVENTS page of their web site for upcoming activities.
They have vaccine clinics at the new Wellness Center every other Thursday. They also do summer clinics in several communities Look at their web site for specific dates.
Yes, JLMcB is correct... They have veterinarians on site. You may want to call about making an appointment though.
Not sure but you can most certainly call and ask
I think you have a certain amount of time. Really not sure
What is the price to spade a kitten ? Have a lower income.
I don't know really know how to answer that. Let's look at it this way as a courtesy would you inform them if you were trying to get pregnant and have children? In some respects it's the same thing. On the other hand if they are prone to stop by your place yes maybe you should. After you get the dog definitely let them know and see it then they know who it belongs to and don't call animal control...
I don't have a kitten for adoption but maybe animals friends does. I have a feral cat that they neutered for me
They open at 11 am closed on mondays
Check their website to get all the details.
Do not know that answer. Sorry
Yes they do not show all the animals the get on, but call them. That is why they should be chipped
Maybe if you go in and talk to the people there and present yourself in a reasonable and respectable attitude you may be able to get pictures. But just understand they are not rude they really do love your animals there so I do respect that of them and yes they may seem rude but they are very animal friendly 2 Humans also.
They offer services like this, but you'll have to call for pricing. It may vary depending on age of the animal.
The count varies hour by hour. There is a constant stream of pets of all kinds entering and adoptions leaving to a new home. Best you stop in on a regular basis if it's a particular pet you are looking for.
Yes they do. They have many different breeds. Don't limit yourself to a single breed. Go see the animals and see which one feels right.
It is my understanding that they do accept these items along with towels
I am sure the answer is yes but you still need to at least call them but actually stopping in personally is always better.
Give Animal Friends a call. They are a no kill shelter and great to work with. They can help you, I'm sure. Sorry your situation is creating these circumstances for you.
I would call them or stoping person with a question like this. I am sure there are alot of other questions involved in addition to this one.
I don't think it's free. My vet wanted $400 bucks to neuter my cat and Animal friends program was between 45 and 55. Be prepared. It's almost a 3 month wait. I found a vet that will do for $200 and if I don't hear back from them soon, I'll just pay the $200. You have to get little boys fixed early to prevent them from spraying.
They do have a program for emergency boarding but I'm not sure what circumstances meet the requirements. You should definitely call and inquire!
It's not free but low cost. Thursdays 1-3 they also do shots and microchipping
Go to thinkingoutsidethecage.org that will tell you their policy and procedure. They will check for microchip. If you know who dropped the dog and why they will want to know that too. Animal friends is no kill. Others are not. Just saying...
Call them first. Then take it from there.
They do accept cats and kittens. I know that there is a fee to adopt. I don't know if there is a fee if you are giving them an animal.
You need to contact the shelter directly or take a drive over and see. They are located @ 562 camp Horne rd. Pittsburgh, 15237
Around 6 months but your Vet would be to ask.
You might want to contact the humane society downtown.
If you live in the city of Pittsburgh there are FREE vouchers you can get off the internet. Up to 5 per family. Otherwise contact your local shelter. Many offer low cost clinics, I paid $80 to get my female spayed, shots, and microchipped at the humane animal rescue. A male dog is much cheaper than a female.
I'm sure you could donate to a shelter
The phone no. For Animal Friends is 412 847 7000. The staff is very friendly and I am sure they would be very happy to hear from you.
Check website. They have many different times and at different places
Call Animal Friends for info. If the dog also needs vaccination's, they can be given at the same time. They are the best!
March the 7th is the next date.
Unsure. Try to check back. Maybe they are doing computer maintenance tonight.
There is a program when caring for a feral cat colony to get free food. I am quiite sure they would help you to get food for your house cats if needed.
I'm sure. I'd call first to give them a heads up.
I'm pretty sure they just had one a few weeks ago.
I took my cat cost $63 about. That included shots, nail trim and fixed
Would have to check website. It will tell you
Shelter may be busy or on holiday hours. Leave a message and you will receive a call back.
It's $100 for a kitten. Also need written approval from landlord if you rent.
Yes they would take them.
Call local police
Go to the website. Details should be there.
Also, if you live in Pgh, animal control may be able to help.
Whats the website
It's $30 for male cats, $40 for females.
Check out the Animal Friends website www.thinkingoutsidethecage.org. Good luck I hope you find the perfect pup 🐶
Animal friends is a great place to start. They would be the lowest cost.
13. I looked into it and I have to wait another year for my daughter to be able to volunteer
I get all my flea, tick, and heartworm supplies from Animal Friends.
I think most shots are $10 to $15 dollars.
I didnt even know they had something like that. Best way to find out is to call.
I believe you would habe to ask one of the staff members. Im sorry i couldnt be more help.
I'm not sure about the adoption but they are very good and safe with shots and getting fixed.
I'm not sure. If you need emergency veterinary help you could call Rainbow Vet
Yes they have dogs.
Nope. He found his forever home yesterday!
The shelter will take older dogs as well if you can't place him yourself. Fill out an admission application on their website and they will call you. There may be a waiting period.
Call them, and see what they can do for you. Most vets will allow you to use a credit card to pay for the care of them.
Call before u go just to be sure.
Get in touch with the behavior team they can help.
Depends on what services you need. If its for vaccines or sterilization they have walk-in clinics. The days/times are listed on their webpage.
Yes it does. Call the main
The shelter only does wellness checkups for shelter residents, not community pets. The community services they DO offer are vaccines, id chips and spay/neuter. The prices are on their website.
Jen's response. Is correct. They also have an education class on how to 'bond' your bunnies.
Unless you recently adopted your cat from the shelter, they won't be able to help. You should bring him to your own vet. Or they suggest PVSEC for an emergency. But they're pretty expensive.
You just need to tell them this during the admission process. They wii make note so the adoption staff gets her an appropriate home.
You will have to call them. I'm sure they will take them.
When you call the main number, leave a message for Chelsea. Just tell her you left numerous messages and no one has returned you call.
Fill out an application. They test dogs for ok with cats. Just adopted a 6 year old good with cats.
What type of services? They are open. Maybe the website gives good info.
Yes, it does cost. The dog is examined, any health problems are treated. Dog is wormed, given all shots and spayed or neutered, then fed & boarded until adoptd.
Yes, anything like their toys or a blanket they lay on, etc.. will give them comfort through the transition
Ok, thanks for replying so quickly! nice name btw 😂👍👍
Put an ad on Craigslist. Ask family and friends. Put pictures with your ad so people can see the cat too. Worst case scenario, just drop it off at Animal Friends.
I believe check in time is 2 or 3 and check out time is 11am
Saturday is their normal weekend hours of 10am to 5pm but there is someone to let you in earlier if you have a reservation at the "Breakfast with the Bunnies". They are closed Easter Sunday.
Go to their website and fill out an application for admission. This will put you in the queue and will be another prompt for them to contact you.
Three year rabies vacxine for cats is $15
To wake can vary. Depending on our current population. Best thing is to call Admissions and ask.
I don't see that on the event calendar. You can sign up for all of their events online. Go to their website and select the events menu.
You need to call or stop by the Wellness Center. There is a sliding scale for low income.
Look at facebook/pigsburgh They rescue mini pigs. Also be sure you know what you are getting yourself in to....I had 2 minis that grew up to be over 100lbs each. I live on a farm with a barn so they were happy as can be....I dont know how people keep them in the house.
Sorry, yes you have to be with a parent or guardian until you turn 18. However, you may be ale to volunteer with the humane education department assisting with summer camps and such before 18.
Call first and then bring the puppy in. They can check it out and if microchipped they can find the owner. Thanks for helping our pet community
We have one we are preparing to surrender. 8 years old female declawed and spayed
There are constantly a variety of dogs available. Dogs who are smaller, cat friendly and great with kids move through the shelter all the time. They are often adopted quickly, so it is useful to watch the website for available dogs - it is updated every hour - or call the adoptions department periodically and check in with the adoption counselors. They are also able to help answer questions about temperament and energy level, which are both important when considering whether your family and the dog are likely to get along:)
Not sure. Call them they will know
I think they take just about anything and their open Sunday
Animal Friends does have a limited number of cages for emergency boarding, in the event, for example, of a fire that leaves someone homeless. I dont doubt that any cat would prefer an extra room at a kind friend's house as opposed to a cage at any shelter or boarding facility, so i would exhaust all possible resources before inquiring about emergency boarding. If you have, perhaps try to contact Animal Friends Admissions department to see if there is space. I do not know the cost of emergency boarding.
I do come there every month for flea treatment. And I thought there were going to be vet checks available. I will call on Monday.
You can drop them off for them get new home
No, you don't need an appointment to see animals available for adoption
The best way to find out is the call them AF is located on Camp Horne Road
That sounds like reaction stemming from a developed behavioral instinct to "protect" you (or whoever he is NOT growling at). I'm under the strong impression that this particular behavior is something that can develop in numerous dogs, regardless of their breeds (for various reasons), but with the proper professional training it should be a very correctable issue. Although it will take time, patience & practice --for both you & your dog. I suggest you contact a professional trainer or behavioral specialist. Sorry that I don't know of any personally, but Animal Friends should be able to help point you in the right direction. If not, the World Wide Web is your oyster & Google is always your friend :) Dig around a bit; I'm sure there are some fantastic professionals in the Pittsburgh area that can help you, if they aren't already at Animal Friends. Best of luck & take care! -J.DL-
