It is always better to call but they will not turn the animals away if you dont. Calling helps though because if they are full they can move some animals to foster homes or any number of things in order to make room.

I wld think yes cause my cat had kittens and cld not keep all of them yet did not just want to let her go either. So i called animal friends its a nokill shelter for pets. So i wld say yes call first.
