Put an ad on Craigslist. Ask family and friends. Put pictures with your ad so people can see the cat too. Worst case scenario, just drop it off at Animal Friends.
Animal friends is best. As a long time volunteer, I know they will accommodate you if there is a medical need even if there is no room currently. And you can be comforted that the cat is going to get affection and great care and will never be put down. It's a great place. They will also work with u if you cannot afford the fee.
Contact animal friends ahead of time, explain the allergy situation and that you want to coordinate with them asap so your husband can get medical relief. They're very nice people.
