Such an awesome garden! There are a lot more small paths in the middle of sections of the garden than I’ve seen at other botanical gardens. We saw lots of pollinators and hummingbirds. This is a huge space with a lot to explore. It’s a lot less of a hike than the Berkeley Botanical Garden (although both are lovely)

I'm a huge fan of blooms and plants of all kinds -- and I LOVE God's creation. I took a g'zillion snaps of the gardens on our visit and we found the grounds lovely for picnics, walks, photography, or just sitting and whiling away the time. Loved our time here and can't wait to get back!

We actually didn't plan on visiting, but we are so glad we did. We're not residents of San Francisco, so our entrance wasn't free but if I was a resident I would go there as often as I could. I was surprised by the variety of plants, routes and paths you could take. Also very good accessible for strollers or wheelchairs.

Absolutely stunning - bring your camera because everything is breathtaking and a welcome nature retreat - free between 7:30am - 9am - with restrooms and drinking fountains - arrive early to have it to yourself - 55 acres so allow time to soak it in and pause for pictures - the morning light is stunning and the sprinklers briefly run which give everything a glistening appearance. Bring a snack and bottle of water to enjoy on the many benches spread around.

Yes, food and drink are welcome in the garden.
Yes, but I would advise taking paperwork authorizing the dog as a support animal and have them wear the appropriately labeled harness. The dog should remain on the leash at all times and of course pick up after them.
Free all day - last entry today 6pm - come enjoy the Garden!
Yes garden has easy access for handicapped.
Yes we do!
Of course you can have picnics on the grass! The umbrella shouldn't ruin the lawn, that may not be cool, but there are many big trees to sit under for shade, you won't even need a tent.
Pardon any typos or misunderstandings from using Google translate: Botanical gardens are special plant museums that require additional resources. There are hundreds of hectares of parkland available for free.
Yes, Gabriel, admission is free 7: 30-9am every day
Same as weekends, Anna, 6pm through September. See sfbg.org/visit for more.
Yes, it's in September! Please check the website.
Maybe you can take a photo & see if we can find it online
The Garden is open and free to all on Thanksgiving, 7:30am-last entry 4pm. Advanced tickets are recommended and donation are encouraged and greatly appreciated - sfbg.org
No. I don't see a public piano there at all.
Photo? Thinking perhaps Aristolochia californica, California pipevine or California Dutchman's-pipe - it’s a vine but it has almost covered a few shrubs in the Redwood Grove so could be easily confused as a shrub...
Ya, they do.
Indeed, we are open 365 days a year! sfbg.org/visit
We saw magnolias and more. I don't remember all the specific plants; I'm more into the overall ambience. We were there about 2 weeks ago - and I was totally blown away. The SFBG is world-class. If you've never done it, go now. It can only have gotten better. And do the Japanese Tea Garden, which is nearby, ie, you can walk there. both are good walks.
We bought tickets are the door, 8 dollar per adult
I think the previous poster is correct, no Banyan trees in the gardens. Although they are one of my favorite trees, I used to climb on them in Tampa Florida when I visited my grandmother back in the 60s. Nonetheless, the Botanical Gardens are spectacular and there are many many plant types there. But too cold for the Banyan
Camellias, magnolia tress white and pink colors, geraniums, ...
24.00. If I recall tickets were 8 each. I remember it was one thing that was inexpensive in SF.
Yes.
Under de young museum

Yes there's free entrance during that timeframe regardless of whether you are a SF resident. SF residents get in free at any time
I'd suggest calling the park and asking those same questions.
The foliage was not changing colors when we were there on October 16th or 17th.
I did not go inside of the library when I visited the San Francisco Botanical Garden
I would say that would be too late for the magnolia, but dafodils and tulips are in full bloom now.
They take cards
We live 55 miles south, it's not far at all
Yes, general admission for non-resident seniors is $6, which is $3 less than general adult admission.

Train N goes there. You should stop at Irving St & 9th Ave. (Just 4 min walk toward the garden). If you are going from Market st it's toward Ocean beach side. There is also a Muni bus #7. Which goes there.
No (or it's very well hidden :D ) so I usually bring a sandwich or coffee
Free for 4 yo and under $2 from 5 to 11yo $6 from 12 to 17yo and 65+ $9 for adults $19 for family, 2 adults and all children under 17 in the same household (Prices in February 2019)
Yes - street parking is available nearby (and even free!) if you get there early in the day.
There is parking by Stow Lake in Golden Gate park..
There is a flower shop near the entrance you can ask there
Theres street parking that runs throughout golden gate park. The roads around the botanical gardens on 9th ave. usually start getting packed early, especially on weekends.

There aren't any steep inclines for the walking paths. There are slight ones, though, but nowhere near a hike nor as hilly as the rest of SF
Yes, the magnolias are currently (end of February 2018) in bloom.
1:30pm daily. Leaving from Main Gate
Probably but I'm not sure. Check their website.
