I think the previous poster is correct, no Banyan trees in the gardens. Although they are one of my favorite trees, I used to climb on them in Tampa Florida when I visited my grandmother back in the 60s. Nonetheless, the Botanical Gardens are spectacular and there are many many plant types there. But too cold for the Banyan

There is not but there is an old, large New Zealand Christmas tree (Metrosideros excelsa) that has a similar, interesting root structure.

I don't think so. There is a Moreton Bay fig, which I believe is a relative, but it doesn't have the aerial roots. There are some Australian or New Zealand trees with the aerial roots, but they are not as large as banyan trees.
