I have lived here for a year and have enjoyed it. Celia the sales and service supervisor and John the maintenance guy are both amazing and very understanding and helpful. John always has a smile to his face and never is annoyed if something is clogged or maybe I chipped something on accident. Celia is very thorough and has helped me a lot since I switched units and has answered all and every question. The concierges here are also very helpful and I never feel like I’m a burden to them. Great location since it’s right in the middle of Alexandria, dc and falls church and for the price you can’t beat it. I definitely recommend Avalon Columbia pike!

Let me make it clear up front that actually *living* at Avalon Columbia Pike is amazing. The front desk staff (especially Tony) are absolutely wonderful and welcome everyone with a friendly energy that genuinely makes the day feel better. The building itself is beautifully renovated and the units are spacious, well-kept and offer spectacular natural light. So why the one star? We have lived in our unit for one year and were planning to renew our lease for another year. However, Avalon's renewal terms included a $370 PER MONTH rent increase which would not be financially sustainable for us. We have been stonewalled every time we've asked for a more reasonable rent increase and have now been forced into the process of finding a new home. So, this one star review is meant to reflect our deep frustration that, despite the Avalon marketing department's emphasis on 'community', make no mistake that living at Avalon is a cold, calculated transaction and there's no telling whether you'll be stiff-armed out of your home when your lease expires. For some, this may not be a huge concern. For others, until Virginia passes rent control legislation, I would be wary about considering Avalon as a long-term housing option.

Updated review as of 2022: My review below still stands true about the concierge staff and maintenance team. They remain the best part about living at Avalon Columbia Pike. Yes, the apartments are wonderful. But I would warn against renting here unless you want your monthly rent to be potentially raised by over 17% (because that’s what happened to us). If you express concern or propose a counteroffer, leasing consultants will respond with how they’d like to meet with you and “discuss what they can do to meet your needs”, but don’t offer a solution or proposal to meet you halfway. The concierge and maintenance staff care about you, whereas Avalon seemingly does not. This appears to be simply a business transaction for one of the largest apartment owners in the US. --------- We've been living at Avalon Columbia Pike for a few months now - the best part of living here is absolutely the concierge. Jaime and Tony have been the faces we have seen from the day we toured this apartment building, to our move-in day, to our daily activities in and out of the building. There is no better enthusiastic and warm duo representing Avalon Columbia Pike. They are absolutely helpful and have made the process of moving so effortless! I have not met other Avalon staff, but I'm sure they're just as wonderful. Thanks for all you do!

I have lived here for almost 3 years now and truly love it here. The management is organized and communicates well. Everyone that works here is friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure residents are happy. The maintenance team is awesome, John and Edwin always complete maintenance requests the same day and make sure that you are happy with the result before they leave. Nikki from management is so friendly and communicative, and she truly wants to make Avalon Columbia Pike a great place to live. The concierge Jaime makes my day every time I see him. He is so friendly and positive, even if I’m having an awful day, he makes me smile. Jaime feels like a genuine friend that I am excited to see any time I walk into the lobby! Overall, this place has taken great care of its residents, even through the pandemic. I am so glad I chose this place to live for many reasons (amenities, location, apartment size, pet friendly, etc), but the people that work here truly make it a wonderful place to live. I am so grateful for the employees here for making Avalon Columbia Pike feel like home!
