Great people doing great work. Thanks for doing what you do housing folks and keep it up!
Rachel C
Service has been great and all, but the only thing that I didn't like with this housing authority is their "2 heartbeats is 1 bedroom." I have a 14-month-old, and they don't consider all the toys that an infant/toddler has, so my place was cluttered. If I didn't pass an inspection (which i didn't have to worry about having an inspection), I would have blamed the SHA cuz of them only giving me a 1 bedroom. Also, its not a good idea for kids to sleep in the same room as parents cuz it'll teach them the habit as they get older. I'm saying kids need to have their own room! I feel that the SHA needs to do like what other housing authorities (like HASCO) does. Head of Household get their own room.

I honestly have to say that though I've never worked at the Spokane Housing Authority, I have however worked at the Peninsula Housing Authority years ago. Pam Parr was the Executive Director. She was always kind, thoughtful and fair to everyone. When she left to be the Director at the Spokane Housing Authority, we truly lost a wonderful person. The employees that worked at the Peninsula Housing Authority either got fired, pushed out or they left from working at there. It went to Hell in a hand basket fast because of the appointed Executive Director. The new director couldn't hold a candle to how Pam was with everyone. We love Pam and missed her very much! Spokane Housing Authority is extremely lucky to have such a Director leading them to a bright future for as long as shes been there. Count yourselves very lucky!! π

So we had great contact through out the apartment known as Cedar west apartments, things like paper work and information was all filed just fine but once it came to Spokane housing authority to step in for confirmation on our move in date it all just slowed down greatly. One lady who we finally managed to get ahold does not even explain anything she just replies with βwe will call you and your housing manager when itβs ready, you donβt call usβ after a month went by we called the apartment manager and she told us that everything was all set to go!. After leaving multiple voicemails with contact information we still are waiting on Spokane housing authority to contact us back or at least show effort and try to reach out, for families who need a place to live itβs ridiculous and inconsiderate.

Yes. They can raise the rent 10% of your current rent each year.
No you do not, it is for anyone with low income, then you need to check often to find out when the waiting list opens!
Go to 55 Mission Street and ask what you can apply for
Yes. The waiting list that is currently open is the Project Based Waiting List. The application is available at our front desk.
Hi Cathy, It is unknown at this point in time. We still have quite a long waiting list to finish up first. Other affordable housing options can be found in our website's FAQ page. www.spokanehousing.org.
Could you describe what kind of rules you're asking about? As far as housing lists, please see http://www.spokanehousing.org/faq/Housing2017.pdf for a list of affordable housing. Another good site is www.padmapper.com for locating a unit. We have some resources on our website FAQ page at http://www.spokanehousing.org/faq/default.htm. Thank you, Spokane Housing Authority
I'm not familiar enough with the 811 program to provide a proper answer. Please call HUD's multifamily office in Denver at 303-672-5343 and they should be able to get you to someone who can answer your question. Another option would be to call Northwest Justice Project at 509-324-9128.
Hi April. Section 8 voucher participants pay 30% to 40% of the household's income toward rent, generally speaking.
I'm wondering the same thing
You can report a change on our website at https://www.spokanehousing.org/housing-choice-vouchers/reporting-changes/
There are two great places to look! www.gosection8.com and www.padmapper.com.
Unfortunately our waiting lists are closed. There may be other resources available in our community, please call 2-1-1 for information.
The first time homebuyers course can be completed through SNAP at https://www.snapwa.org/services-we-provide/i-need-help-with-housing/i-want-to-buy-a-house/
Did u try online on there website? I'd do that or check b4 I mail it
Hi John, Voucher payment standards are available at https://www.spokanehousing.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Spokane_Utilities_Payment_Standards_2020_GD_HAP.pdf where you can find current payment standards for voucher holders. Thank you, Amanda
Hi! That's a great question. When you mention "they" who are you referring to?
A household with housing assistance can have people stay for around 14 days per year. If it has been longer, you can report it through our website at www.spokanehousing.org.
Please see my response to your earlier post.
Hi Thomas, First you would need to get on a waiting list. Unfortunately they are currently closed for general access. If you are homeless, then you could possibly gain help from another agency. Please see more information at https://www.spokanehousing.org/housing-programs/#homeless. Thank you, Amanda HR Manager Spokane Housing Authority
Sorry, we are not open for walk in appointments, though we do have a virtual lobby and scheduled appointments if necessary. Please visit our website for more information. www.spokanehousing.org
Hello, if you're currently on our program please let me know and I will forward your question to the team.
We have provided an extension on all paperwork through the 12th. Update... 8/6/20 There is now a dropbox at our 25 W Nora Location!
Also, and important to note, once you vacate the unit the subsidy ends.
If you call the main number the receptionist will answer and help you connect to the person or department you need. I don't think they're doing in person appts yet, but I'm not 100% sure about that. They're also moving locations tomorrow, so if you don't reach anyone at first try back and definitely leave vm with your contact info.
That's a good question! Please contact the code enforcement office for the city of the motel.
SHA only provides the subsidy assistance through housing choice vouchers or partnerships with housing providers using project based vouchers. You should look into one of the referral programs listed on the website or call 311 and ask where he can get assessed for housing.
Yes, that is possible; however, you will have to get on the homeownership waiting list first. That waiting list is currently closed.
Hi Christina, The voucher program generally works in that SHA will only pay up to a certain payment standard for a unit and the client pays about 30% of their income towards rent and utilities. If your rent is lower than your payment amount, then SHA likely wouldn't be paying anything to the landlord. It would be best for you to call or come in and talk with an Eligibility staff person since it seems there must be some other factors in play with your voucher (recent income increase, deductions we allow, or something). Thank you.
You and you child qualify for AFDC ( Aid For Dependant Children) but it's according to Idaho's state guidelines you may be turned down because of your BF if he is physically able to work. He could go to Aging and Long-term Care in Idaho and apply for a caregivers job taking care of you and your daughter. He would get his NAC licences and the state would pay him as your live in keeper.
If you would like to port out to moses lake go in to the office Monday, take a number and we will be happy to help you.
Yes just explain you're needing emergency help with housing for X reasons (x whatever reasons you have)
Hi Gayle, Unfortunately our waiting list for the voucher program is closed. Some other potential rent assistance may be available through Catholic Charities at 50-328-8400, or call the 2-1-1 resource hotline. If you are thinking about moving, the Project Based waiting list is open. The application can be emailed or sent to you, or they are available in our lobby. Thank you, Amanda Carpentier HR Manager
Does that apply to the fup voucher as well because my place has already been inspected by cps and also approved.
Tigger, Do you know who you have been working with? I can get you the correct contact information.
Unfortunately we don't have grants to award. Please come down to our office to find out more about the services we offer.
Go down to their office and take a number that's how they do it and wait until they call your number
Yes, please contact NW Justice Project and Code Enforcement of the city.
Our Tuesday briefings start at 9:30 a.m.
Hi Tigger. I have also received your email. Please pay your portion of the rent! If you do not, it could have other consequences for you, regardless of what the landlord has or hasn't corrected. I will forward your email to staff.
That woud be the property management to take care of it. If the property management doesnt care of it then tell housing. Housing will force the complex to fix the problem. If they dont you have the right as a tenant to break the lease as long as you give them notice to fix the problem. They know the rules, so force them to fix the problem or threaten to move out because you gave them notice. Im assuming you have already put a work order in and they still havent done anything??? Either way you , im assuming, did put work order in and they still havent done anything and still giving you the run around. They assume people on housing dont know anything. So take it from a person who use to be on housing at one time.
Congratulations on your daughter's upcoming graduation! It will only affect your rent if she has income to report. It's a good idea to be sure we have her sign some paperwork since she will be an adult soon. Likewise, you may need to add her to the lease where you live now - check with your landlord regarding that. Please call 509-252-7149 and we'll get you connected with the proper staff! Thank you, Amanda Carpentier HR Manager
I didn't know there was an online application. I would think on their site there would be a place to print out forms. I think they could send you a form in the mail. If you have a worker already would be good to call them direct. The main # does not always answer or call back. If someone could go in for you might be best. They have a number system so sign in and take number. Tech savvy person or library might know more. Good luck
Can u remove yourself and get housing for just for yourself
I make $841 a month, could I get help for rent?
On the street ..Atlantic ave..
Susann, If you are on our voucher program, be sure to report the change in family members and income! If you are not on the voucher program, have a discussion with your landlord. If you need rental assistance, a good place to start is 2-1-1 who can provide information on resources in our community.
Hi djeannie, Yes, charges can be changed for things like carports. If you have questions about timing, or how you found out about being charged, then I'd suggest contacting the Tenants Union at 206-723-0500 (https://tenantsunion.org/en/programs/tenants-rights-hotline) or NW Justice Project at 509-324-9128 (https://nwjustice.org/). Thank you, Amanda Carpentier, HR Manager
Hi Ty, Timothy has the right idea. Your dad or his approved contact needs to report any changes, and if wanting to add you to the household, there is a separate process. The landlord will also need to approve having you added to the lease once you are qualified through us. Thank you.
Spokane Housing Authority will be closed on Monday, February 18, 2019.
Hi Lynn, Unfortunately our waiting list will be closed for quite some time for our Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher. For other affordable housing options, please see our FAQ page at http://www.spokanehousing.org/faq/default.htm Thank you.
Hi Justyce, Unfortunately we do not have assistance for moving or down payments. You may want to call 2-1-1 for places that offer those services or go to https://fbhwa.org/programs/additional-support-services/eastern-washington-211-ew211 for more information. Thank you.
Yes.. Certain circumstances can move you up list faster but. Otherwise it's a wait is what I was made to understand
Hello Jorge, I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you looking for housing, or, are you looking for housing assistance? Thank you, Spokane Housing Authority.
Hi Cindy James, Usually storage is addressed in the lease or an addendum. Is this one of SHA's properties? If so, which property? Thank you, Amanda Carpentier HR Manager
We are open 8:30 to 4:00 Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; and 1:00 to 4:00 on Wednesday.
Check with elderly services xx they may be able to help ?
Yes, landlords and SHA both can have housekeeping inspections. They just have to provide proper notice.
Spokane Housing Authority's mailing address is 55 W. Mission Ave., Spokane, WA 99201
Nope
Hello, I'm sorry you're having difficulties receiving help. Have you tried calling 2-1-1 or First Call for Help at 509-838-4428?
Unfortunately we cannot help with a rug, as Kathleen noted, Catholic Charities may be a good place to start!
I'm unsure what you're asking here - is this a continuation of your previous question?
Then i would talk to Spokane Housing about your situation
Resources can be found through the 2-1-1 information hotline, www.washingtonlawhelp.org, www.solid-ground.org/tenant or at http://www.atg.wa.gov/ResidentialLT/default.aspx. You may also want to look into options through Spokane City Code Enforcement at https://beta.spokanecity.org/neighborhoods/codeenforcement/. If you are on the rental assistance program with us, then be sure to send a copy of requests made in writing. Thank you.
Yes, if you have had the voucher for a year, then you may be eligible. Contact your team for morr information!
Yes, there are. The best places to start are the homeless outreach team at 509-838-4651 and the information hotline at 2-1-1. Some additional resources can be found on our website at http://www.spokanehousing.org/faq/default.htm. If she is single and homeless, she may qualify for the Single Resident Occupancy program. The application can be picked up at our office at 55 W Mission Avenue in Spokane. We're open until 4:00 this afternoon.
Hi Dustin, Spokane Housing Authority does not have the ability to search and find bank accounts. Bank accounts should be reported to us correctly per the regulations and rules of our programs through the client. Thank you, Amanda Carpentier HR Manager
Trying to 'port' out of Blue Ridge GA...( Transfer section 8 back to Spokane WA) Need to know our bedroom size and rent voucher for Spokane amount ,called office left msg. Still no phone call from anyone from SHA. What do we do.. And who do we speak with.. Please provide # and extention We've Updated worker here in GA.. We need to notify changes Within 10 days.. Very difficult to be in compliance when no one contacts us back
SHA's waiting list is closed at this time. You might want to try Catholic Charities, SNAP, or Salvation Army.
Submit any police reports and statement to us, and talk to your landlord.
Hi Amanda, yes I would appreciate any resources you can. Thank you for you response.
The person you want to live with you would have to be approved by both the Housing Authority and the landlord, and remember to consider that their income would have to be counted towards household income.
What is your Facebook or email so I get the right info.
Hello Lacey, To rent from a family member through the Voucher program, there would be a need for a reasonable accommodation for a member for family member with a disability. thank you.
Right now the waiting list is closed so we are not accepting applications. Try Salvation Army, SNAP, or Catholic Charities.
Call 2-1-1 and they can provide some numbers for Spokane Homeless Prevention or the Homeless Outreach team. Also try Transitions for Women.
It is a lottery drawing now. I would call, it has been long enough for you to wait, imho
No. I've had my Avista disconnected and never lost my section 8 housing
How's your credit? The housing market is pretty tight, but their building all the time. The housed the homeless and drove the market sky high. Just call Spokane Housing and do what they tell you. It's not impossible. Good luck, God bless
Go to 55 W. Mission and apply. The waiting list is long. It usually takes about 2 years.
Are you asking if your landlord can be considered a disabled person because you don't think she has a valid reason for being considered disabled? Find a new place to live because you obviously have issues with her and need to be somewhere else
Pine...something... 2820 N Cherry St in the valley is income restricted so low income is ok.
Yes go to the Housing Authority as the lottery is open again. Housing is tight, consider renting a room Talk to Catholic Charities and get a caseworker Good luck
Stop by
Well the housing market is tight right now. Have you tried talking to your neighbor? Read your lease for details or go to a free lawyer clinic. Hope this helps
