I would give it five stars but making an appointment for immunizations online you can't really do it at all (no matter how much you try) . . . But, we got them done finally by other means of setting up the appointment. The staff was great and they got us in and out pretty quick. Our pup came out happy! THANK YOU!!!

Wonderful experience at Escondido campus today—staff so thoughtful & helpful, everyone so pleasant and hard-working. The staff’sdedication to the critters and clients is so impressive. Jessica very generously helped me with donated food and supplies—so welcome for a senior citizen with a very limited income. Five stars! Much gratitude! Thank you for all you do so compassionately!

I found a lost dog last month and 2 this month, I dropped the dogs off at the humane society. Both times the humane society made it such an easy and relieving process. They will even come get the dog from your car. I filled out a super easy form, and left my contact info. They will call you and let you know if the pet is reclaimed as well as if they are not. If their owners don’t claim them you get first dibs at adoption. (Fortunately both times I dropped off lost pets their owners reclaimed them! )

Even though it wasn't business hours, dispatch was available to take my emergency call. Had to rush kitty somewhere, Kitty had just been hit and left in the middle of the traffic. From phone call to dropping it off at Humane Society process was excellent and staff were very polite and understanding and even though they were not yet open, they were very helpful. I hope kitty, makes it.

Yes, but they will euthanize if the animal has a reason for not being adopted (medical or behavioral issue)
Yeah they accept a lot of things, but some things they cant use (usually bagged food, very large dog beds). Most of those things goes to PAWS the community outreach.
Please call the Humane Society. Dogs need shelter from the rain. Don't hesitate. Please call
They may have a service for Seniors but not sure. Call them and inquire.
I've adopted several animals through them and never had a problem. I did see a family there one time though (a couple with a little boy; about 4 or 5) and they wanted to adopt a cat. The humane society turned them away because the little boy was too rumbuctious, was pulling tails, slapping them, etc.
I’ve posted them on social media and all I got were negative comments and people telling me to get them spayed and neutered but it’s too much for 5 cats
Yes, if they're in decent condition and not torn, so another family is able to utilize them. Thank you for considering the HS
Definitely check with the humane society. I dint think it's free but they are the least expensive.
Yes donate to ASPCA in Escondido.they always can use donation items as long as food is sealed in original packages . Also used toys and accessories for dogs cats they also welcome .
Check out this info on the website: https://resources.sdhumane.org/Resource_Center/support/Pet_Boarding
Agree with Susan, lots of opportunities
Yes they do you should call though
There are senior discounts. Animals up for adoption are already spayed or nuetered.
Seniors over 55 get a waived adoption fee, and there are usually some sort of adoption special at least every month.
I know, first hand, that they offer spay and neutering for cats, pit bulls and Chihuahuas (these are the top breeded animals in SD County) for "free". Appointments can be made for the weekend. You are still subject to disposal and medication fees, which total no more than $80.
Not sure shouldn't cost anything to get your dog back. Not sure if you have to go to a vet for flea medicine they might do license s
Yes, they're still doing that program.
Yes we have all kinds of foster opportunities available. From dogs to cats and even small animals. Typically for cats, we need fosters who can take mother cats or "queens" as well as their young kittens until the kittens are old enough to be spayed/neutered and are able to eat on their own. Usually about 6-8 weeks
No. Come without your dog. If you find a dog you are interested in, staff can arrange an interaction between you & the potential adoptee. OR, come with a friend who can keep your dog outside. Then, if you find a dog you like, you may be able to introduce it to your dog. Best advice: call first & consult staff.
Get ur dog neutered or spaded
They do vaccine clinic by appointment, they don't have a DVM performing physical exams. The most the vet techs could do for you is estomate the age for your pets but they cannot diagnose. They will ask you to visit your DVM for medical consultation.
No, there are costs to the different shots. Contact the Humane Society for a price list.
You also get a certificate for free vet check up where you can get additional vaccines if needed but you have to pay for them
Yes
to my understanding dog must have all vaccines before they release him, and you have to pay for them if you dont have his record.
The only animals being spayed and neutered at this time are community cats. The website will have more resources sdhumane.org SD Affordable Spay and Neuter Clinic
Hi I'm not sure where you are located but we are in Escondido, CA. & Banfield Pet Hospitals (located all over) will see you pet for free for the 1st visit. Also VCA Animal Hospital will see your pet for $25 for 1st visit. If your pet needs medical attention, surgery, etc... Talk with your vet about all payment options because often they will have resources that we don't know about, for example through some Humane Societies & other non profit programs you can find grants, loans and other low cost program options that may be able to help. You can also try searching for these types of programs yourself. Google "indigent pet care help or low cost animal help near me". One more idea, I've noticed a lot of online virtual vets that are relatively inexpensive & depending on what your pet needs, that might be an option for you. I hope this helps, good luck to you!

Perhaps you have friends or neighbors who might be able to use what you have. Here's a link to our guidelines for donations: https://www.sdhumane.org/support-us/ways-to-give/wish-list.html.
They will bring the duck to the Humane society
Yes! Thank you so much for thinking of us! Your pet beds sound awesome. Here is a full list of what we're accepting right now: https://www.sdhumane.org/support-us/ways-to-give/wish-list.html.
Thank you for reaching out to us! We’ve temporarily suspended our Community Spay/Neuter services. This is to decrease non-essential services to the public so that we can concentrate on emergency care and our shelter animals.
This should help. Change the location to escondido. https://www.sdhumane.org/adopt/available-pets/
Yes!
Yes i believe you can.
They have cardboard animal carriers for 5.00 dollars.
They told me also that they are a no kill shelter. We had a cat that because of a newborn in the family and another family member who is very sick...we needed a new home for kitty. With pictures and descriptions sent out to family and friends, we ended up with three different homes to chose from. From a home to a shelter...tough on any animal. Best to find the new home yourself.
Yes, they DO sign off on "court ordered community service" hours there.
They do it Saturdays only. Check out the website. It could've changed. But I believe you need to get there around 7 for it to begin at 8 every Saturday. 10 bucks a shot. Again, check website inbcase this week is different.
Ive never heard of flea shots . There is topical treatments you can purchase in pet stores or a vetenarian can help you
I am not a volunteer I would like to be one. I got a kitten there.

Shelters get animals in, and adopt out, all the time. It's best for you to search at https://www.sdhumane.org/adopt/available-pets/ to see what animals are currently available. You can search by type of animal, gender, shelter location and other criteria. If you see an animal you like, you can call before going to the shelter to make sure the animal is still available.
They have clinics on the weekends. No appointments, but it's first come, first served. There's always a line.
Try the escondido humane society. They have great low income prices.
Sundays starts at 9 and they do only 75 animal. So they recommend you get there 845 at the latest to get a number.
Yes.
Kahoots offers dental cleaning and also pet packages. You can look up their clinic times and locations on line
I know the have rabies shots on Sunday for the first 75 people for $10. Not sure about neutering. If not, I have used an offer on Groupon... I was very satisfied with them. Its. Only $110.00. It includes nail trim and microchip. https://www.groupon.com/deals/san-diego-affordable-spay-and-neuter?utm_source=&utm_campaign=UserReferral_ma
Where can i take my (possibly) diabetic cat for low/no income pet owners for emergency treatment
Yes. The 15th of each month.
I think so. They had several when we were there. We rescued and adopted a puppy. That puppy is now 2 1/2 and full of too much energy and lots of love!
No .. Sundays from 9am to 11am .. the first 75 people. $ 10 -dhpp / $ 10 rabies (3 months)
If their license is current and first time impounded, it's a "free ride home". If not, $40 for impound and need to have current rabies- $10; also licensed if in jurisdiction.. cost depends if dog is spayed/neutered. $16.50 a day for care everyday they're there
Adoption only, there is a fee. The fees associated with adopting are to pay for immunization, chipping, neuter/spaying and housing until adoption.
No
Snap. Dogs are $70 for male. $80 for female. I had my shih tzu done 2 wks ago
Cats are considered "free roaming" but will pickup if they're injured or in danger. They DO NOT euthanize feral cats, they will spay, neuter and release, if they are in good health
Go to sdhumane.org to sign up, then you must attend an orientation which reviews all volunteer positions
Yes
You need to pay any adoption fees to adopt him or her again
Not much. You can view the available pets online at the humane society website or go to one of the 3 campuses in person. Just pick the pet you like and pay a small fee. The fee depends on the type of pet and age. Usually anywhere from $25 to $100. They have many events throughout the year where fees are waived.
Both... Humane Society first...then the County.
I called when we went months ago. They returned my call.
Sundays 9am-11am for the first 75 people.. so get there early
