They never answer the phone! I've tried multiple times (over a year) and no one have ever answered the phone. However, they do have a voice mail option. In my opinion, if you have a local business, you should make personal customer interactions a top priority. Most businesses know this already. I took my business elsewhere.

Wont go back. My Bunny needed his vaccine, so i made an appointment for 4:30 (still covid restrictions so u have to stay in ur car) so i got there at 4:20, called, and the front desk person said ok and a tech will call me (to ask any additional questions prior to coming outside to grab my bunny) in a minute Welllll... at 4:40 still no call, i called them back and the front desk said that since my bunny wasnt vaccinated they have to disinfect and prepare a room, so it will be a few more minutes, about 10 more minutes. I asked why they didnt have it ready before my appointment and she said that they just have the one room. I asked why no one told me i need to wait 20+ minutes AFTER my scheduled appt time before he would be taken back, because that is super disrespectful of my time, and she just apologized and had nothing else to say. Then, the tech came out, grabbed the bunny (didnt ask about husbandry at all), i asked how long since they just needed to do a physical and exam on him then his shot, she said "a little bit".... so i asked her to clarify and said said "about 30 minutes or so" So, got back in my car, was situating some stuff and getting ready to leave to the store in the meantime and she came back out with him... MAYBE 5 minutes, MAYBE So, since i paid $60 for this "exam" i asked her if they were discounting it since he was in and out and clearly that didnt happen. She said that the $60 was "just to check his heart and lungs" (mind u, they have never seen my bunny before). WOW. Will NOT ever concider taking any pets there in the future. Unfortunately they have u pre-pay, so i will have to go back to comlete his vaccination, but NEVER AGAIN. Edit to add : i was aware it wasnt a full exam as he wouldnt be a new patient establishing care, but the tech agreed when i questioned a $60 exam fee to check just the heart and lungs. I was, however, told ahead of time that you guys cared to know about the husbandry and since i didnt have photos to explain instead, which wasnt asked of me. And providing timeframes in your responce only quite literally proves my point. Communication is important when working with patients. It is respectful to advise the customer when there will be a delay vs allowing them to wait in the dark esentially and then not seeming to care about their time (which is the vibe i have gotten from each member of staff since my appointment wasnt "urgent")

We took our bunny here for two years. They are hands down the best vet in the area for rabbits. They would always call and email with pricing to make sure we understood and consented to cost before any treatment. Their staff is clearly very knowledgeable on treating rabbits, which is not easy to find! They also offer boarding services. The staff is incredibly kind and mentioned to me on several occasions how much they loved my little Bilbo. Unfortunately we had to make the difficult decision to put him down yesterday. They made the painful process as gentle as it could be. Even though due to COVID they’re not allowing people inside they still arranged for us to have time to say goodbye to him. When I handed him off to the vet tech Rachel I knew he was in good hands and would be given love through his final moments.

Super professional and knew alot about bearded dragons. Beyond the excellent care they provided to my Joanna, they asked questions about husbandry, handling and my frequency of replacing my lighting which was smart. They presented me with a well thought out plan of care and were happy to make suggestions helping me improve my setup. The transport of Joanna in and out of the clinic was perfect and everyone was respectful of how tiny she was and didn't even change direction too fast.(bearded dragons fix their gaze so moving too quickly can agitate them). Would highly recommend and will be my go to care going forward. Thank you again so much, Dan

Our Consultation (exam and recommendations) price is $89-155 depending how soon your appointment is. Any further costs for medications, procedures or testing are discussed with you before we move forward with any of those. If you are not yet a client of ours and you would like to become one, call us at 971-361-2209 to discuss our available appointment timing, and if those options are OK with you, then we will need you to go to our website at www.avianexoticvetcare.com and register as a new client (see the button on the upper right of the home page) which includes prepayment for your first Consultation appointment. If instead you are looking for a different veterinary clinic, you can click on "DVM list summer 2020" at the bottom of our web page to search for other clinics that may be able to help you. We wish the best for your new lizard's care. - Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
Hello Alina, we can certainly take care of your hedgehog. Like Benjamin said, the first step is to go to our clinic website at www.avianexoticvetcare.com, click on the blue "new client" button, and go through the steps to register as a new client. The final step there is prepayment of the $89 fee. We receive your registration information online shortly after you do this, then we will contact you to schedule your hedgehog's appointment. Currently our "regular" consultation appointments are booked out by a couple weeks. If you need your hedgehog to be seen sooner, we also have more expensive "urgent care" consultation appointments and those are booked out by a week or so. The cost of any medication or flea treatment is in addition to the consultation fee. Thanks for asking! - Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
You need an appointment. They're not an ER. For that try Dove Lewis, and be prepared to wait for hours.
Don't think they take walk-ins. Just call them and inquire about the cost for an exam. At that time you can make an appointment.
"Wellness check" means different things, depending on your situation. Our Consultation fees (for a physical examination and discussion) are $89-155 depending on appointment timing availability. In addition, there are several diagnostic procedures that might be a good idea to make sure your cockatiel is being managed well, including blood analysis, fecal analysis (for types of bacteria, yeast, or parasites), radiographs (x-rays), etc. Many possibilities. Be assured that we will discuss all of those with you before doing any of them, though! Feel free to give us a call. If you have not been to our clinic in the past year, we will ask that you fill out a new client registration before scheduling anything - look for the blue button "new client portal" on the upper right of our website. Thanks, Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
Yes, for now we are still following distancing guidelines, and even with just our staff indoors we are wearing masks all the time. However, there are limited opportunities to schedule your bird's exam so that it happens in our front exam room, which has big windows. You can sit outside the windows and see us working inside. Talking back and forth through speaker phones is a bit difficult due to road traffic noise, but it can be done. Whenever you make your Consultation appointment, mention that you would like to be able to see the exam, and we will see what we can do. - Thanks, Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
The Consultation appointment (exam and discussion) is $52-155 for each bird, then any diagnostic procedures would incur a separate cost that we discuss with you prior to them happening. Go to our website, click on “new client”, and go through those steps including prepayment of a deposit towards your first appointment. Then we will call you set up an actual day and time for the Consultation appointment to happen. Hope to meet your conures soon!
Yes, call us at AEVC at 961-361-2209 and leave us a voicemail, then we can contact you during the day. Our appointments are booked out a ways. If we are not available as soon as you need, look at the “other exotics veterinarians” link at the bottom of our website’s home page to see if another clinic is available sooner. Keeping the hemipenes moist is important, until a veterinarian can help.
Yes, I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian. Give us a call to see about our appointment availability, and if we don't have an appointment soon enough to meet your needs, then we will direct you to a list of "other exotics veterinarians" that is accessible from a button at the bottom of our website' homepage. Good luck, Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
We would suggest discussing this with whomever told you your parrot's vitamin D was low. We are not legally able to give advice to the owner of a parrot that we have not examined in the past year. Good luck! - Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
Certainly. However, they all need to have had examinations with us within the past year. We call those Consultation appointments. Call us at 971-361-2209 to talk about how to go about scheduling those. Thanks, Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
Bunny Mariscal, I'm not sure because I don't know what type of animal or species that is.. They are an amazing clinic and appointments are hard to get.
There are many aspects to this, especially the discussion of why it has happened in the first place. I would recommend scheduling a Consultation appointment with us to get things started. Go to our website and click on "new client portal" at the upper right to go through the process, including prepayment of part of your first Consultation fee, then we will contact you to schedule an appointment. Our regular appointments are booked out for a while, so if you need care sooner then go to the bottom of the home page of our website and click on "DVM list summer 2020" to see a list of other veterinary clinics in the area that might be able to help you. Good luck. - Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
Avian and Exotics are awesome. They really care about your pet. They will be able to help your feathered friend.
Certainly. It depends entirely on the type of tumor, as to what the recommendations would be. We would need to set up a Consultation appointment with you and your budgie to get started. If you are new to our clinic, then please go to our website at www.avianexoticvetcare.com, click on the "new client" button at the upper right, go through those registration steps, then we will contact you to set up an appointment. Thanks, Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
I would suggest giving them a call. They're super friendly and professional 😊
We certainly do. All 3 of our veterinarians are well versed in tortoise care. Even better, one of our veterinarians, Dr. Paul Gibbons, was the chief operating officer and veterinarian for The Turtle Conservancy and he remains a board certified specialist in reptilian and amphibian veterinary care. Give us a call or check our website for more info.
Hello Thy, If you are asking whether we do "de-crowing" surgery, the answer is no. We do not believe that the surgery described on-line is effective, and we generally do not do surgeries to prevent an animal from doing their normal behaviors, unless those behaviors have a significant medical adverse effect on their lives. Our recommendations would include those mentioned by Italia already, or re-homing the roosters. Thanks for asking, Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
We have many snake patients and all of our staff including our 3 doctors are very comfortable helping you with your ball python. If you have not been a client here before, it's best to go to our website www.avianexoticvetcare.com and click on "new client portal" so you can become more familiar with how we do things. Then we'll give you a call when we see you have registered there. Thanks!
We definitely see chickens and quail, in fact chickens are one of the most common species of patients we see. A Consultation appointment is $89 for an individual chicken or quail. To set up an appointment, we first ask that you visit our website at www.avianexoticvetcare.com, click on the "new client portal" button at the upper right (or among the drop down menu if you are using a phone to access the website), and follow the steps listed there. Once we receive your information and paid deposit through the website, we call or email you to figure out what day and time works best for your appointment. That whole process can take as little as 1 hour from start to finish, so it is sometimes possible to have a same day appointment even if you are a new client for us. Thanks, Dr. Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner of Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care.
I have taken my parakeets (budgies) there and they recieved excellent care. They knew the appropriate things to look for and took the time to show me images from the gram stain on their fecal smear so I understood what they were seeing. I highly recommend them!

Sorry I don't know 100 %, but I'm sure they could. Because Im not sure if they see exotic only or not. Most all vets can trim bunny nails. At home we always use two people to trim cats and bunny nails. One wraps them in a blanket or big towel so the other can trim. Talking to them helps while your doing it. Some are ok with it and some freak out . But if yours freaks out then take them in! I'm sure they would just do the back!
Yes
We definitely provide veterinary care for reptiles. And we employ the only two board-certified specialist veterinarians in the state for private practice reptile care. Give us a call if you need our help - 971-361-2209.
I am not sure on price either, but you could call and they should be able to give you an estimate... that is what I did before I made the appointment. They were kind and helpful, and got us in super quick. I totally agree with Chris Wathen ...it is an amazing place! Both the doctors and staff were wonderful and I would not hesitate to use them again :)
They are happy to quote prices if you call them
Hello Jada, Feel free to call us to discuss our prices for rabbit castration surgery. We are at 971-361-2209 and are open 7 days a week. Thanks!
Call them. Maybe they will help you. They are excellent.
Yes they are. They are a great place for exotic pets. Excellent staff. Love all animals and live what they do.
Certainly! Go ahead and call us today so we can figure out how to help. - Lisa Harrenstien, DVM, DACZM, owner, Avian and Exotic Veterinary Care
