We recently made an appointment for an annual exam and vaccinations for our dog. Prior to the appointment, we received a call from the office saying they would like to do a dental cleaning while our dog was in the office for her appointment, After reviewing the post appointment summary, we noticed they had not given any of the vaccinations that were due in 9 days. We called the office to confirm the vaccinations had not been administered. After being placed on hold for 15 minutes, we were told they do not give vaccinations at the time of dental cleaning because of an increased risk of adverse events. This is understandable. However, when they called about adding the dental cleaning, they should have mentioned they could not perform the cleaning and administer the vaccines during the same appointment. Had they have done so, we would have pushed back the dental exam since up to date vaccinations are required for dog boarding and daycare appointments.

It was my first time at this particular location I went to. I usually go to classic, but this location on Belmont is actually closer to me so I figured I'd give it a try since it was something recurring and not a big deal. It was so cool, the staff was ridiculously accommodating and lots of natural light helps, plus a coffee machine. I'll definitely go back it was great! I'm on the plan, but this was an extra exam.

My dog has had some good experiences here in the past but recently something changed with Banfield. They call to remind you to get your pet vaccinated but usually I am not sure when I'll be available to take my dog in so I'll need to call back. But here's the thing, you can't call back. If you call their office, you will not get anyone. I've pressed option 0 over 10 times and no one picks up. If you leave a message, they don't return your call. Too bad. Please don't respond to this review with you standard, "please contact our customer support for further assistance", we all know that's not going to resolve anything.

This place has gone severely downhill since COVID. I wish I had another option right now.. 2+ years into COVID and you cannot see a vet. You drop off your animal, and you get a piece of paper describing their condition when you pick them up and you can talk to an assistant at the desk. No possibility to even see or talk to a vet. Secondly, you cannot make an appointment. They "upgraded" their website which makes it 4x as hard to log in and even get to the appointments page. Then you might be able to book an appointment for 4-6+ weeks out if you are lucky - hope your animal isn't actually ill because they don't care! If you need something other than a standard appointment (such as a dental cleaning) then you have to call, except no one will pick up no matter how many times you try. They will call to remind you you are overdue to for appointments and to try and book one, but they only call during the workday, and usually not at a time you are able to pick up, but they sure like to passive aggressively tell you how you are being a bad pet parent! The vet chat is useless, as any medical advice requires an appointment that you can't get. Oh, and I pay $110 per month on their "Pet healthcare plan" to get this kind of service.

You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?

Banfield Pet Hospital | Aug 17, 2020

Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
