I would leave a negative review if I could. Zero stars out of five at least. I moved here from out of state. Really wish I had seen the place in person before I signed the lease. The pictures of the apartments do not match what you get. The place is old, run down, overcrowded, and definitely not safe at night since gangs patrol the area and drive by shootings are common. Parking is impossible to find after hours, with every spot in the complex taken, and I had to park out on the street many times. The basketball court had holes bashed in the walls, and the fitness center is really just a few broken treadmills and a cable machine, and I found knives and empty packs of cigarettes there late at night. A package of family photos was stolen off my doorstep, and my neighbor had loud parties and threw his trash in front of my door. Management really couldn’t do anything to help with any of these problems. Then, on top of everything else, the apartments are way too expensive for what you get. Please don’t move here. Stay anywhere else. Avoid Lancaster Commons at all costs. My happiest day here was the day I moved out.

They need to upgrade the playground. Apparently they took out more than half of it before we moved in and now it's just depressing. Very disappointed. Edit: We lived in this apartment for almost 2 years and all in all it truly was a pretty good experience. It's NE Salem so it's obviously a busy area. But the security is on top of it. Don't live in towns like Salem if you can't deal with the busy city life! Maintenance crew is ABSOLUTELY on top of it with pretty much everything and that's incredibly rare. Definitely disappointed about them never updating the park while we were there, but outside of that...definitely one of the good ones in Salem!

These apartments are awful. They’re located in a bad neighborhood behind a strip mall in a run down part of town, and are still somehow overpriced. Gangs are a problem, theft is a problem, trash is a problem, vandalism is a problem, parking space is a problem, and nobody keeps an eye on their kids. Management just doesn’t seem interested in solving any of these issues. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Since moving here in March we have found the front desk receptionist girls are awesome, everything we've needed fixed so far has come thru great. The neighbors are quiet at night (and I have 3 children that go to sleep at 8pm perfectly without disturbance). The rent is a little steep but since the new management has taken over they have been cleaning house drastically making this establishment very pleasant to live in!! I have seen far far worse in different city's and different states where druggies are shooting up right on your doorstep and guns shooting off, stabbings every night. This is pretty damn nice compared to that kind of living! Thank you Lancaster Commons for doing a great job and keep up the great work!

Questions & Answers

Can someone answer this, is it possible for management to keep my security deposit even though I haven’t moved in yet? Apparently there was a “contract” that I signed that any last minute changes before moving in will keep me from refunding my dep.

I'm not an expert on this, But, I'm thinking that if You we're placing a security deposit on just them holding the apartment for you, with the intent of maybe/maybe not to move in? If so, then they shouldn't be able to keep all your security deposit, Just charge you a fee, let's say a Application fee and return the Rest back to You. You can call Fair Housing listed in the Governmental pages in the Phonebook. Again, I'm not an expert, But, this sort of thing, You should be contacting your local authorities about this. Hope this helps😒✌
