Casey Eye Institute is a real bummer. They are expensive and although they are considered preferred providers of my insurance, they figured out a way to not accept any insurance payment for my medical lenses. They claim that a different department bills for the actual medical lenses and that this other department is not a preferred provider. This means I have to pay the full cost of the lenses, even though both the prescribing physician and the clinic is a preferred provider. This seems like a scam to me. That’s just my opinion of course. This also felt unethical to me (another opinion), so I’ve decided not to return. Instead I found another doctor to prescribe my Scleral lenses.and he says that billing my insurance is no problem and that they will cover 90% of the costs. My advice: stay away from Casey Eye Institute- at least their medical lens department.

I have complicated, autoimmune eye problems making glasses expensive and challenging. I need the best quality possiblie in lenses and frames as well as with the professionals that work out my difficulties for my prescription. Casey Eye Optical is THE BEST! Until my disease I had no idea that there was such a vast difference in lenses and in the qualifications and training required of their professionals so they can accurately meet the sometimes minute prescription details. THANK YOU!
