Would recommend going in the early spring... very lame in the summer. Also im not sure if our guide "whitey" was having an off day or something but he was pretty lame and was kind of a d**k

I was there in July and the conditions were awesome. No idea about your guide, but ask for Patrick next time. He was a great guide and a cool dude.

The season doesn't have anything to do with it. There hasn't been a lot of rain, so the water levels are low. There isn't anything anyone can do about that. If you want something exciting, raft on the upper Gauley in the fall.
