One of the few (maybe the only?) locally owned rafting company's in the area, and totally worth it!!! The ladies in the office were so nice and very helpful answering our questions to help us decide what we wanted to do. We'll definitely be back to use this company again! We did the Upper New (Class I-III rapids) today and had a 10yo & 12yo with us. This river trip had a perfect combination of fun rapids and stillwater for swimming to cool off. Brantley was our raft guide and trip leader. He was such an incredible guide; very engaging, humorous, and knowledgeable! He didn't just share info about the river and rafting but a lot of interesting history and recommendations for the area based on interests within our group too. He also had an eye for pointing out wildlife and we even saw an otter swimming and enjoying his fresh caught lunch! Speaking of lunch, our lunch included with today's trip was also wonderful and far more than we all could eat: sandwiches, potato salad, pasta salad, 7 layer dip with chips, dessert, and I'm sure I may be leaving stuff out. We can't wait to come back here and I sure hope Brantley is still guiding wherever we do!

If you want to have an adventure, I highly recommend the lower New River experience (class 3-4 rapids). This is not for the faint of heart, so be prepared. We had an amazing time rafting with New & Gauley River Adventures. They combined humor and hospitality into a safe, organized and crazy fun time. They aren't fancy but it made the experience feel authentic. Amos, our guide, was very knowledgeable, funny and a true West Virginia host. (Scott was a great tour leader, and Bill an amazing navigator of the hair pin turns in the bus.) Thank you New & Gauley for a wonderful and safe experience in the beautiful mountain state!

If you're looking for a great group of staff and guides for your whitewater adventure, this is the team to go with. We had an absolute blast. They really made our trip down the New River fun and exciting all at the same time. Amy was our guide, and she was awesome. We had some unforeseen circumstances come up during our day, and she handled it without missing a beat. We'll definitely use New and Gauley River Adventures on our next whitewater trip.

This company was amazing from the first moment I contacted them! I was planning a family trip & wanted to take my seven year old niece along - this was the only company who would accommodate (all eight of) us. They made it easy to communicate beforehand. The day of was fantastic, Jason was our guide and he was super friendly & knowledgeable. Randy was with us and helped our 15 y.o. niece quite a bit with her duckie. We all had an awesome day & hope to return to raft the Gauley next fall. Thanks again for a great time 🙏

If it's raining they will still go, but lightning and thunder are a different case. For your safety, they will not run the river. Call them day of if you are unsure.

What a great bunch of people. They grew up on the river that they guide you down. Be ready for an amazing experience. We had 10 people split into two different rafts.

Would recommend going in the early spring... very lame in the summer. Also im not sure if our guide "whitey" was having an off day or something but he was pretty lame and was kind of a d**k

They have beginner friendly floats that will introduce you to the river. Don't be afraid, it's a wonderful experience for anyone with interest in whitewater.
