I am not a car expert, but, as long as you are fully charged and your breaks are in excellent shape, you should be fine. It is a pretty spooky drive though. We were really glad that we took the tour. Didn't have to worry about driving or finding a parking spot... Hope this helped 😀
Yes you can make it up to the top and back down in a Prius. I did it...be extra careful on the way down. ..I stopped several times both on the way up and down. ...good time to take some pictures. The car did fine.
I was just there waited about 45 minutes. Got to the pay gate. And found out you had to park and take a shuttle and no pets. We had our little dog with us and had to turn around.
Yes just be sure to go in low gear on the way down. They have a mandatory brake check to make sure your brakes don't get too hot about halfway down.
Yes, you will be fine on the way up. Just be careful with excessive braking while coming down. Be prepared for altitude sickness (ear popping and light headaches). Enjoy the beauty!
Also, if you're nervous about it, there are parking spots along the way to stop and ride. We were there last week and because of construction at the top, we had to stop and ride at mile 16, I believe and ride a coach to the top because of the severely limited parking.
Any car seems to make it from what I've seen. Just be careful and drive slow! :)
