You can do both. I was along the bank with just water shoes and caught three 2.5 lb trout and others in our party were fishing along the bank and in the stream with waders. It didn't matter as the fish were biting!
The fishing is great either way but you can get to more spots away from other people without freezing your *&^s off with waders
I'm pretty sure the fishing is good anyway you decide to fish there. It is a pretty great place to fish!
A few years ago, I caught lots of fish from the bank, including a five pounder on a fly rod.
