No, there is a station with envelopes in it. Just take one envelope, put $5 bill in it, remove receipt from the envelope and put on a dashboard, put envelope with money into a payment box.
$5 fee deposited by envelope at the site, there is no attendant so must have exact amount or NW Forest Pass that you can buy ahead of time. You'll have to Google where to buy them but they're available for the day($5) or for the year($30).
