Why doesn't jacksonville fl have a portillos? We'd love to have one here

I had the same question. I'm sure if Orlando does well, then Jacksonville will eventually get one. Tampa got chosen for the first one because Dick Portillo lives there. As to franchising, I looked into about 2 years ago -- I was wanting to see if I could get one for south Jacksonville or Orange Park. Unfortunately, they don't offer franchies. :-(

I heard one is coming to Orlando...until then we will take trips to Tampa!

They picked Tampa based on the volume of Chicago transplants. The same reason Giordanos tried Tampa and Orlando.
