If that happens then there are trails you could walk down
No one has ever gotten stuck as you walk up and down on the same trail, there is a sky lift down, and failing that there is a service road that park police can drive up to get someone if they collapse and cannot make it down under their own power.
At the top you can take the lift down. There are call boxes along the way if u are hurt.
Take the hiking trail down. It is a marked route so should be easy enough to navigate.
The hiking trail is on the other side of the mountain which is not as steep as the side that the gondola ride uses.
