Visiting in September. How early should I get to the train station to make sure I get an enclosed seat? Don't want to be out in the wind.

20-30 minutes...there's never been a free for all seat grab in the 2 times I've been there as most people want to see the view out in the open.

30 minutes should be adequate. There are lots of seats in the enclosed car. Also, facing the end of the train, the seats on the left are more in the sun! I like to be warm! Enjoy
