How bad are the limited view seats on the floor to the left and right of the stage?

It really depends on the production. And how much of the action occurs on the far left or right side. In most cases the Productions are geared so the main action is in the center of the stage. So you will miss a little bit on the sides but not enough to significantly affect your enjoyment of the production. It is a 2000 plus seat theater.

It's a small theater. I would avoid those seats if possible.
