Des Lux Hotel and Des Moines Marriott Downtown are fairly close. I'd opt for the Holiday Inn Des Moines Downtown, though. It's a little more affordable, similar drive and others a good breakfast.
The best is a mile away rent a bike for a half hour cheap near both the Staybridge East and Hoyt. New clean updated pool spa rainfall head shower in a tub kitchen mic full fridge freezer laundry on site free breakfast with meat cheese slices sausage gravy grapes cold milk juices pop ice great coffee condiments and grills out back to cook on if you bring meat. Sweet setup....walking distance to Iowa capital grounds free tours. STAYBRIDGE EAST

Any hotel in downtown des moines is near the hoyt sherman theater.
As Drew mentioned, those are some that are close. Nice scene downtown in that area too Bounce around and hit local establishments. If ya wanna party and not drive (don't drive drunk) catch an Uber ride from the venue. Very easy to navigate and get somewhere quick in des moines
The closest are probably the hotels downtown. The marriott, hyatt place, and des luxe are all relatively close. I think there are a couple more as well.
