You can also get a hold of Home Inc they AR wonderful when it comes to tenant landlord law and really do everything they can to help the tenant I have used them in the past and they are bulldogs if they have to be
If you can't afford an attorney they will appoint one to you most of the time it is a student home Drake law school that is overseen by Bob Riggs who is there professor and a longtime defense attorney
You know Deb I would just call them and they will answered your questions for free like they did me when I went there for the first time and if they can't answered your questions then they will give you some numbers to call for the right people that can help you.
Call iowa legal aid or the ombudsman of Iowa. Thoes are 2 great resources for older adults.
Usually you have to call Drake legal and ask those kinds of questions or make an appointment. They don't want to deter these questions. I know they do a lot of pro bono work but I think most of it is people that can't afford an attorney and how one appointed to them
I bet when it's all said and done and you end up with a plea deal I have never seen another outcome then that unless it's a big charge and then take it to jury
