I was there this past weekend and everything seemed fine. I agree with Jaime there wS a lot of homeless people scattered around but, peaceful. You have to wear a mask when going in stores . We had a great time.
All was good when my group visited last week. No violence, hardly any people along the River Walk (unusual to see since everytime ive gone its been crazy busy). Masks' are required for every place you go into along the RiverWalk but not while on the sidewalks browsing down the river. Boat rides are limited to 10 people only which was very nice because it doesnt feel over crowded. Hardly a wait for anything as not many people are going down to the River Walk. Outside of the River Walk is a whole different story though, no violence but lots and lots of homeless people begging for money (more than ive seen in NYC and Hollywood). If you go just stay along river walk as most the rest of the city is closed up or dirty.
Was fine last week. Mask requirements
