I would not take kids who cant sit still or cooperate well in tight settings, there is no room to walk around unless there is a stop and then you can get up and move freely

The WMSR’s website says “WMSR considers 12 and under as a “Child.” Any child two years of age or younger can ride for free if the child can fit on your lap and is willing to sit on your lap for the duration of the ride. This only applies to standard coach. All dining guests must purchase a ticket. THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride is also excluded from free rides." The ticket price for coach and open air is $10 cheaper for children. There is a sign in the open air car stating that no one under age 16 is permitted, but there were a number of young children in the car when I rode in September 2022. If you bring children (or yourself) in the open air car, make sure that they have earplugs and safety goggles as there is a massive amount of ash that flies into the car.
