I've heard that people who seek help from PATH can be sent to stay in hotels while waiting for longer term housing. Where are the hotels located, how long can a person stay, who pays for the stay, and what is the quality of life like in such places?

PATH choose where you stay, Some are hotels, apartment building, and rooms. There hotels are every borough only PATH has those listings. Your stay at this time is from one year or more. HRA pays for the stay in the Shelter, even if toir are working you must have an open PA Case.. You won't get Food Stamps, Medicaid or Cash but the shelter will get paid. I hope this helps you... Good Luck.

To answer your question, the hotels are located in every Borough. I'm currently in a hotel on Van Dam St in Long Island City. The place is well kept but it's located in an area where nothing is around. The city pays but you have to open up a public assistance case so that you can get your vouchers toward your new apartment. The average stay is 6 months to a year
