For an extra fee, you can do quite a bit, but you just have to ask Amtrak staff. You may be able to call 📞 and ask too. It also depends on what and where, how long after the passenger rides and perhaps even why it's even necessary. Like for example, if for a child or a disabled individual, they might do more for you.
