is there a secure place to leave luggage for a few hours before departure? Is yes, what is the cost? Or can one check a bag 2 to 3 hours before departure?

Rhe station is only open at train time. From 715am until 11 and then again from 8 until 10pm.

No there isn't a place to leave your luggage before Amtrak departs or arrives..
