We rented a car and drove straight there from the Tropicana and it was only about 25 minutes.
It is about twenty five to thirty minutes from the strip depending on traffic and what part of the strip you are on. Of you are taking a taxi cab or a ride share like uber or lyft they generally only take you to the entrance gate. After the entrance gate there is a 13 mile scenic drive that goes through the park. Definitely worth the price of a rental car to spend the day there hiking the trails or just driving around sight seeing. They also have horseback riding places nearby.

Note cab and ride-share will only take you to the gate... renting a car for the day would probably be a better bet. That said, the other folks are right about 30 min. depending on traffic. Going mid-morning, during the week is best.
