We went through Loess Bluffs yesterday and saw 20 eagles! The large group of snow geese was magnificent. What happened to all of the dead geese? Bodies were intact. There were signs of predator sites, but it was disturbing to see about 40+.

I've been told it's part due to hunting. A wounded goose will sometimes make it back from feeding on a wounded wing and perish back at the refuge. There are also survival factors like disease and longevity which also contribute.

They are so beautiful. It was so sad to see them dead. We also saw one lone Sand Hill Crane with the Trumpitor Swans. Will he be able to complete his migration alone?
