Beautiful spot to hike, but when we visited in mid October to hike the Pine Grove Trail, we were swarmed by mosquitos and had to cut the walk short. Definitely plan on bringing bug spray if you plan to visit in warm months.

Can't say you will find a lot of shells and beach treasures as the beach has taken a real beating in recent years due to storms, however it is very much worth the trip,it is very unique and truly a Sussex county treasure
Yes , but to must obtain a permit. Worth checking into to. Beautiful area.❤
Spring is a good time generally for bird, as well as fall when migration occurs. Summer you can see Ospreys nesting with chicks. Year round there are Herons. Check which birds you are interested in and see where they will be during the time you will be visiting.
See Scott's answer. If you are looking for a bird sanctuary where you can drive around, go to Bombay Hook, it is about 15 minutes from Dover. There are many bald eagles, great blue herons, egrets and many other birds. If you are lucky, you may see a fox or turtles etc.
