Why is it that every campground I look at has a gated entry that closes at 10pm??? We are going to visit family friends in Sandy and I thought camping would be cheaper than motel 6, but I'm sure the girls (18) will want to be out later than that!

Because people are going camping for peace and quiet. The most annoying thing in the world is people rolling in late at night looking for campsites shining headlights everywhere. If you want to avoid that go camping in BLM country where there are no Gates but you don't get the benefits bathrooms and firewood Etc.

I guess no one caters to regular people who just want to sit in a friend's house talking until midnight, and then have the common courtesy to drive in quietly to their already set up campsite, and go to sleep. Shame. But I know what you mean. I've camped next to those people, the kind you're talking about.
