My dogs hike in there with us on leash and off leash when we are hiking away from the rocks all the people etc. If you want to take them off leash there is plenty of land there that is accessible and never crowded keep a close eye on little dogs tho there is predators in the sky, like copperhawks
With supervision, depending on the ages. There are lots of big bolders and hills, some neat arches, but there are some steep drops and creaveses. It's really fun though our whole family loves this place. It can be easy for kids to "dissapear" but they usually turn up ;) The gardens right by are fabulous and beautiful too.
Yes, the outdoors is hundreds of times safer then sitting in front of a TV, lol!
