I've lived here all my life (even had my wedding there) & never knew they had a hippo, are you sure you are thinking of the right place?
The hippo is over in Homassa at the state pk there.. I'm thinking its Crystal River
She is thinking of Homosassa Springs State Park. Sadly, the hippo died of old age.
Gators, birds, monkeys, turtles, and fish are all we saw there.
not anymore. However you can rent canoes and kayaks and see alligators , birds , monkeys and plenty of fish!
Homassassa springs state park has hippo and a lot of animals
Nothing contained, nor fenced. Its all natural now. Well, as natural as an owned and managed park can be!
Just natural to the area wild life. Gators, monkeys, lots of local birds. Nothing exotic from other areas
Homosassa state park was there 2 weeks ago and the Hippo is still alive!
I remember they had some giraffes , don’t recall to have seen hippo’s . . .
