Mission Concepcion and Mission San Jose (in my opinion) are the 2 best missions within the San Antonio area. The Alamo is a tourist attraction; however, it was never finished into a working mission.

The mission were Spanish catholic religious compounds, to settle the land and convert the native people. Usually a church compound,5 living quarters for the monks and for the community, that worked the land.
