You need a New York state saltwater fishing license that you can obtain online at the New York State website. There are a few bait shops not really that close but you can look up online bait shops in Long Beach or Island Park.

There is a new fishing bait and tackle spot that opened up this year, right along the pier, it's called magnolia pier bait & tackle
