The website says they open at 8am but we planned to start early before 6am. Most state parks I've been to will allow this but you have to leave payment at the gate. Is this an option here?

For anyone else who wants to know, you can get in before 8am. We went to the Cathedral Rock Trailhead and there is a machine where you can purchase a pass.
