Twelve. I think the limit is twelve with an adult. And any younger requires you to buy the whole room. To make sure that your kids who might not know how to act in a mixed group setting won't ruin the experience for others.
I don't think there's a firm restriction but the puzzles can be complicated, so 13+ is what is usually recommended.
Might depend on the room.
