My son had a massive stroke last Aug. He has been in 3 places since then. He had locked in syndrome but has shown some improvement. Where should he go from here? He is not really getting therapy and is switching to Medicaid

They keep giving excuses why he isn't on therapy so I really don't know. His son is his guardian so our hands are tied. But the longer he lays the less likely he will improve. No one thought he'd ever get even slightly better.

Can I ask why he isn't really getting therapy? My dad had a stroke a year ago, and he got great therapy at Ingalls inpatient rehab. He had therapy Shirley Ryan after cardiac surgery and we were very pleased with his therapy. We wish he could have stayed there longer. He is currently in a dumpy facility with good rehab but the facility itself is less than desirable. I'm wondering if your son's condition is just very sensitive in the nature of his stroke and if he is maybe responding very slowly. I hope you find a place for him. It's difficult to find a good facility when in Medicaid. My dad is also on Medicaid.
