Put application in online before you go. That way your name is already in the system. You can put it in for a specific dog if there is one you are interested in, or just a general application. This weekend, Friday Saturday and Sunday is clear the shelter's weekend and there are no application fees because of business is paying them for all dogs and cats over 6 months of age. Some of the animals are in foster care, so are not at the shelter and an appointment would have to be made to see those animals separately. If you have other dogs at home, they will probably want you to go get that dog sled dogs and bring it in for a meeting with your potential new pet to make sure there's compatibility. Super great shelter with super great programs, my new dog from there is a rockstar.
My sister in law showed up in person, visited with available dogs, did the application and was able to take the dog home the same day. For her the whole process took about an hour (most of her time was visiting with the dogs to find the best match).
