So me and my husband already have a little mixed schnauzer. She's 2 and 1/2. We really wanted another dog but we wanted to adopt this time. I just knew I needed to go that day after our son was home from school. We went and we looked at all the dogs and fell in love with Queen. We were able to have 1 on 1 time with her. We decided she was the one for us. I was very nervous our current dog Nala wasn't going to take it well. She was not sure at first for a couple days. But today is our 3rd day with them together and they are playing like puppies. My heart is so full. Will only adopt from now on. Giving a companion the opportunity to have the life they truly deserve no better way to put it. So in love 🥰 Thank you to all the nice wonderful people at the Humane Society!!

I took my fur baby Nina here and the visit was top notch. The cleanliness, level of care, and the customer service was 👌🏽 I will definitely bring my cat back here. Also, Vet Tech/Jacinda.. Absolutely 👍🏽
mimi good
There were two ladies at the front desk. One was pleasant but the other one was abrupt and unfriendly. The service I got was good once I was in the room.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Yes im so sorry if u get your pet in before oct 31 yes its free
Do they come and pick up sick dogs if the owner is a senior citizen that's not able to Handel the dog
Hello Marcelina! The value of services provided to your newly adopted pet greatly outweighs the adoption fee! When you adopt a dog or cat from HSMO, they have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas/ticks, given a microchip, nail trim, ear cleaning, and sometimes, additional surgeries, treatments, and medical procedures - have all been taken care of. Plus, we often have adoption discounts (every Thursday is PURRsday!) and adoption specials throughout the year. It costs more for us to provide all of these services than our adoption fees cover - you're actually getting a great deal! Getting a "free" pet isn't always free! By educating the public on all of the services that are provided to our adoptable animals, we also bring to light the costs associated with pet ownership, and therefore make sure potential pet owners are aware of the costs of keeping their pet healthy throughout their lifetime. Thank you so much for your feedback!
For people who really need low cost, Carol House Clinic can help. If you qualify by low income, ask about the BARQ program, as low as $15.
Call and see what they can do for you
Hello Sue! Our Animal Medical Center of Mid-America has some programs for low-cost spay/neuter. We don't have a sliding scale payment system, as all proceeds from our veterinary clinic support our shelter pets. If you're in need of veterinary care for your pet, it's best to call and speak with our staff to see if there's any programs or promotions that you may qualify for. You can reach AMCMA at 314.951.1534 If you're looking to adopt a pet, you can view all adoption fees on our website, www.hsmo.org Thank you!
Where r they i want one
I would suggest giving them a call and talking to them directly.
No appointment , however if you're going for a pet adoption you need to be there at least an hour before closing to allow time for paperwork...
Yes
Yes Raechel Carr, I believe they will
Look on their website.
It depends on the weight of the dog. I'm not sure how much.
I believe so.
They will be there early checked out make sure all the shots up-to-date and they will be put up for adoption
Hello Joslyn! You are welcome to contact our vet, the Animal Medical Center of Mid-America directly at 314.951.1534 for more information about your dog's needs. The Humane Society of Missouri does not provide veterinary care for personal pets. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!
Yes. I live in Illinois and i was able to adopt.
Hello Leonette! You are always welcome to come in and look around. If you see someone you'd like to meet, you'll need to complete some info and then you'll meet with an adoption counselor who can help you make sure that it will be a great fit for your family. You can meet with a max of two pets per day. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
We do! You can contact our Animal Medical Center of Mid-America at 314.951.1534 to find out more. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!
Hello Kyle! For adoptions, yes! You may come in anytime we're open to look around or take home a new furry friend. Our veterinary clinic, however, does require an appointment. You can contact them at 314.951.1534
We sure do! Make an appointment or find out more about our services by calling 314.951.1534 or visit HSMO's Animal Medical Center of Mid-America website at www.amcma.org Thank you!
My dog a husky mix had fat growths and my vet didn't cut them out. I had to stop giving him Milk Bones.
Vaccination fees vary by pet. Please contact our Animal Medical Center of Mid-America directly at 314.951.1534. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!
Yes I believe the fee is $25 I think I know it's cheap though
You should be able to, its best if you call them and ask
What Ms.Paula said you have to go on-line frist but call to
If its a stray or dangerous animal control, if it is yours that you are surrendering you have to bring it to the humane society
Unsure...I would think not. Controlling the excessive pet population would make boundaries arbitrary I should think. I could be wrong though.
$19/shot...could possibly be up to 3 shots
I paid $126 for the same thing for my cat, minus flea medicine.. Not sure about dogs though..
Have you ccalled the Humane Society? Call them, they can give you all the information you need.
Call the animal hospital on Big bend here in St Louis they'll be able to take the dog and the dog is injured they will give the dog treatment
Yes
It depends. Dog, cat, horse? Kitten, puppy or adult or senior? They once had a special on black dogs. Serious. Right now Pit Bulls are 25 bucks Otherwise dogs are 190 to 290 Cats 35 to 135
The Mid American Vets have cost support options. I would ask them and they will help you with different pay plans.
At the Macklind Ave location, there are 6 overnight drop off cells in the Recieving entrance. You can place them in one of the available cages and fill out the paperwork taped to it.
Call and they will put you on a waitlist. It took me less than 1 week for a call
I'm pretty sure you can just bring them in. Right into the adoption center during opening hours
Yes
They work with my income
I didn't And didn't hear about it sorry 🤣😐
You will have to contact the humane to answer that!
Yes
He could have environmental, food or other allergies. It isn't wise to advise someone to medicate without them having been seen by a veterinarian. However, you can always give benadryl in a 1mg per 1lb dose. Also, you can use a warm and wet wash cloth to gently wipe/rest on the eyes. Bostons have smoosh faces anyway, and their folds can get yucky, so that may help.
As for normal procedures they have a fee. In your case you may want to call them and explain your problem.
You need to visit, they will work with you to help adopt a stray to match your lifestyle.
I would take your puppy to the Humane Society on Mackland in South Saint Louis,Mo. The care there is above and beyond what you could ask for. Friendly Staff and great Vet's to help you out with your puppy. I pray she is seen soon,it sounds bad in what she is going through.
I only recall the incident.
No
Don't know if Facebook Marketplace allows this, put an add out for Free Hamsters as another alternative....
Not sure if they are or not sorry
They have a sight which shows what pets are available, also if you call adoptions they will look in the computer for all the rescue centers affiliated with them.
They accept all animals
Yes they do
Well you might if you want the cats back but otherwise no appointment necessary
They usually call back within 24 hours. Make sure you leave a message with your number if you haven't already.
By appointment only
Hi LaTisha! Available pets can be found at hsmo.org/adopt. We don't currently have any ferrets, but stay tuned as we have new pets available every day!
Hi Ci, We'd recommend contacting our amazing partners at the Animal Medical Center of Mid-America at https://amcma.org/ or 314-951-1534. Good luck with your move and we hope your kitty is feeling better soon!
Hi Joyce! Here's a list of all our adoption fees: https://www.hsmo.org/adopt/adoptionfees/
Hi Kira! Cats age nine months and older have their adoption fee waived on Thursdays! This promotion does not apply to cats under nine months.
I'm sorry I don't know the age restrictions for volunteers I'm sure they'll be glad to give you an answer either over phone or by email good luck
Sorry I don't know if you can't Google it I'm totally in a loss good luck though
I believe that the price is $50 call them r email to b sure
Not sure in what context you are asking about but the short answer is probably no. If you are adopting a animal then they've been treated before they get put up and some of the fee that you pay is for the treatment they've given them. Otherwise if you are bringing them in for yearly shots them they charge you like any other vet
The Humane Society on Macklind Avenue has a really large selection of dogs and yes they are available for home are the only way to find out they have the smaller breeds which you want is to go by and check it out there's also another one located on Page Boulevard and they have a large selection is very new so good luck
You will want to call them directly.
I'm not sure but you can call them and find out
I know they have volunteers if you are doing court ordered community service you should call and ask them this question.
You would have to pay the office visit fee. They are very good at letting you know much any tests or treatments are before doing anything. I am not sure what the office visit fee is.
I work at the humane society. We do get some dogs brought in from hot car rescues. What shelter or facility the animal is brought to just depends on the officer (and his/her jurisdiction) and the location the animal was found. They will bring it to the most conveniently located place.
I would like information regarding your neutering service. I have a 4 month old gsd that needs to be neutered. He has all his shots and has been chipped but needs to be fixed. Are you offering this service in STL or STC county?
Hello Sondra! If you need a vet appointment for your pet, you will need an appointment so we can best serve you. You can cal 314.951.1534 for an appointment in St. Louis City or Maryland Heights. But if you're coming to adopt, you're welcome to just come in anytime we're open to look around!
Hello Richard! If you're needing to drop off a pet for veterinary care, we do not offer after-hours drop off. If you're needing to surrender a pet, please do come in during our business hours so we can get information to best place your pet in a new home. We open for owner surrenders at 8:30am, 7 days a week.
Make an appointment. And ask about the puppy package. It can save you some $$$
The humane society opposes declawing of cats as it is not humane. Some cities have made it illegal. New York state is about to be the first US state to make it illegal.
It's a no kill shelter the only way they kill an animal is because of aggressive behavior or biting someone.
Hello! All fees must be paid at the time of adoption. Our adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations, microchip identification, a starter bag of Purina food, and much more! You're getting a great value, and in most cases you're set up until your pet needs it's next vaccinations.
We took our girl there I think 120 or 150
Hello Noodles! Volunteers generally must be 18 years of age, but we do have some opportunities for other ages - our Shelter Buddies Reading Program is a volunteer opportunity for kids as young as 6 years of age, and in the summertime our Kids for Critters Camps need volunteer counselors age 15-18. Anyone of any age can always collect items from our wishlist on their own time - those items help our shelters so much!!! Check out all of our opportunities at www.hsmo.org/volunteer
Hello Joseph! YES. We are an open admission shelter and you may bring kitty to either of our locations anytime we're open. However, the actual owner of the cat needs to be present, so bring mom along, please!
Hello! We have all makes and models in a variety of colors! Cute floofs, wee little kitteh, maybe even a chonk or two. Big ones, little ones, young ones, old ones. Visit either of our adoption centers in person, or start browsing kitty pics online at www.hsmo.org/adopt
Hello Regina! You'll need to make an appointment with our Animal Medical Center of Mid-America by calling 314.951.1534. They'll be able to let you know a day/time that you could do all three at once, as well as any low-cost spay/neuter programs you may qualify for. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!
Hello! YES - we are open admission and we will accept any animal that hasn't bitten in the last 10 days. If the animal is a stray, we'll just need to get some info from you about where it was found, etc. If it is your pet, we'll need to get some info about him/her so we can best place them in a new home. Either way, expect to spend a few minutes giving some info about the pet.
Yo My bro we do! You can also check with the House Rabbit Society of Missouri - they do wonderful things for pet bunnies!
Yes
Hello Tomica! Small dogs and puppies under 9 months of age start at $285, but adoption fees can vary. It is best to inquire with adoption center staff if you'd like to know the adoption fee for a specific animal. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
Hello Sukayla! Generally, dogs under 9 months of age start at $285 but the adoption fee depends on the dog. Your adoption fee includes the spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations and deworming, microchip identification, nail trim, a starter bag of Purina food, and sometimes additional surgeries or treatments. It does not include the dog's rabies tag fee, additional heartworm and flea treatments, and any other supplies you'd like to purchase from our gift shop. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
Yes! We have lots of bunnies available at both of our adoption centers. Come meet them! You can also view available animals online at www.hsmo.org/adopt Thank you for choosing to adopt!
Hello! We do not provide pet boarding. You could contact a facility like Kennelwood for rates. Thank you!
Hello Valerie! You'll want to contact our Animal Medical Center of Mid-America directly at 314.951.1534 - they may have some ideas for programs that you'd qualify for. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!
Hello Teighlor! Our Animal Medical Center of Mid-America is not open on Sunday. Please give them a call at 314.951.1534 to discuss different options and programs we have available to help with the cost of getting your dog fixed. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!
Hello Kristin! Yes! You must be 18 to adopt. If you rent where you live, you'll need to make sure with your landlord that it's a-ok to bring home a new furry friend, and double check any size/breed requirements they may have. And don't get discouraged if you don't find the perfect pet in STL - there's plenty of animals waiting for their second chance in Kentucky, too! Thank you for choosing to adopt!
No you have to pay call for the price.
When your dad ups your allowance.
Just take the dog to the human society and they will take care of the rest.
Hello JoEllen! If you're wanting to sign up to volunteer, visit www.hsmo.org/volunteer. If you're wanting to sign up for something else, nearly everything is on our website, www.hsmo.org/adopt. If you can't find what you're looking for, just give us a call! 314.647.8800
I forgot call the human society and ask them.
Hello Tina! It's very difficult to say exactly how much it will cost, as it will depend on the type of infection your dog has, any tests performed or medications needed. You can expect, however at least $50 to walk through the door pretty much anywhere. You can also contact our Animal Medical Center of Mid-America directly to find out more. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner and seeking veterinary care for your pooch - UTI's aren't fun! :(
Spayi g is free not sure about shots..

Have no idea does a guinea pig really need to be spayed
Hi Trina! We generally do not pick up animals, unless it's a stray that is sick or injured. If you just need a pet picked up, you can contact your local animal control. HSMO is an open admission shelter, so if you can get the animal to us, we will take it in. Thank you!
Yes! Please give our Animal Medical Center of Mid-America a call at 314.951.1534 to make an appointment. Thank you for being a responsible pet owner!
I think they are doing discounted prices for February...I would call and check.
Call and they will set up an appointment
Hello Jailah! We generally do not spay/neuter guinea pigs. Instead, we recommend housing females with other females, with males separated from them.
Hello Jailah! We do not recommend bringing your pets from home to the shelter. It can be a stressful environment and animals don't always show the same behaviors in the shelter that they will at home. Instead, we would recommend coming in and speaking with our adoption counselors about the guinea pigs you're interested in - they will be able to recommend the ones most suitable for a buddy, and they can give you tips on how to gradually introduce them. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
To our Best Buddy Pet Center in Maryland Heights and our Macklind Ave. Headquarters in St. Louis City! You can visit all our pets at those locations!
Pain management in cats can be difficult. It's best that you consult with a veterinarian, especially before giving medication of any kind. They will devise the best plan to keep your cat healthy and pain-free. Make an appointment by calling 314.951.1534
Depends on the cat and her personality....i have 2 females 1 and 3 yo and male 1 yo....3 yo is very picky and particular....took her almost 2 months to adjust to me just changing location of her litter box.
Please contact our Animal Cruelty Task Force at 314.647.4400 or hsmo.org/reportabuse - they'll need the address of where the animals are at, or good directions to the property. Thank you for looking out for our furry friends
Never put a pet in Facebook or Craigslist evil people get them and fight them or abuse them...
Hello Heather! HSMO does not provide pickup services for owned animals. You are welcome to bring them to either of our shelter locations.
Hello Juanita! YES - you are welcome to bring your kitty in to either of our shelters during normal business hours. They'll have you fill out a personality profile so we can best rehome your kitty, so make sure you have a few minutes to do that when you come.
Hello MurDia! You can view all available animals at hsmo.org/adopt - it's updated hourly so keep checking back! Thank you for choosing to adopt!
www. Adoptapet.com search for adopt a hedgehog
Most probably
Hello Latasia! We do often have hamsters available for adoption, but unfortunately we do not have any right now. Please keep an eye on our adoptable pets website, hsmo.org/adopt, as all available animals are listed there. The adoption fee for hamsters is $10 each. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
Start your search online at hsmo.org/adopt, or come on in to either of our adoption centers and have a look around! If there's anyone you're interested in meeting, you'll complete an application and meet with an adoption counselor to make sure it's a great fit for you and your lifestyle. You'll need to bring along an ID (you must be 18 to adopt) and if you rent where you live, you'll want to check with your landlord and review your pet policies. Our adoptions are same-day, so you can take home your new furry friend right away! Please let us know if you have additional questions.
Hello Karen! It depends on the dog's size, whether you would like to be present during the procedure, and whether you'd like your dog's ashes back. If you would like to be present, please contact the Animal Medical Center of Mid-America at 314.951.1534 to make arrangements. If you do not wish to be present, you can bring the dog to either HSMO location during normal business hours. No matter which choice you go with, there is a fee involved.
Hello! There is a range of pricing, based upon your dog's size and the cremation options you'd like. Also, if you would like to be present during the euthanasia, you will need to make an appointment with our Animal Medical Center of Mid America. You can reach them at 314.951.1534.
There is a cost to adopt. Each dog is priced differently. Stop by and check out the dogs and the adoption desk personnel can give you the cost. Check out the website it gives you a price range.
I'm not sure of fees or over phone. My dog was found and there was a 50$ fee. It depends on wether it is fixed and. Up to date.
Take the dog to the nearest animal hospital for care.
There are many websites that give detail information. But first put litter box outside. And some smelly catfood. Is he chipped? Go to lost paws website and put all information on it Also put information on Neighborhood website.
Call HSMO. They can give you exact cost and tell you about any special pricing deals they may have.
I'm not sure plus they have special adoptions on certain days
For our cat was stress-related. The issue started when we had our son about a year ago. She would no stop peeing on our clothes, in the bed, planters, basically everywhere but the litter box. Sadly we had to give her up for adoption... And although she was my little kitty, and I love the hell out of the cat....... When it comes down to it she's a pet & my kids come first. Keep in mind if you do have to give up custodianship of your animal, under no circumstances say that you're giving it up because of the litter box related issue. They will euthanize her! If you do have to give her up, it is because "you no longer have the time to care for the animal properly". I would like to thank that she got a good home, as I made them aware of the personality of the cat and the few tricks that she knew. For example should come as a dog would when I whistle, and we would hunt together for bugs with the Morse Code like churps they do
Yes they can
Call the Humane Society. I don't think they pick up animals, you need to take your pet to them.
Call the hsmo veterinary center and ask them.
You must have a really good reason to euthanize your dog. Its either provide a document from your vet or turn in your dog for them to verify your claim.
Dogs have different costs depending on their weight, age, breed, and type of care they have had at the shelter. Each dog is different but when you meet the dog, the adoption counselor will tell you all the details.
You can go on website or call humane soceity directly.
The paperwork includes name, address, phone. If u ever own a pet & housing accommodation for a pet inside and outside.
Call the Humane Society and ask them
I suggest you call the humane society.
If you adopt from HSMO you can take the dog home with you as soon so you finish the adoption process.
Yes.
If you are low income, you may want to check with Carol House Clinic. Ask about the BARQ program and how to qualify. Yes, it can be done while in heat.
You need to find out if he is still with us (not adopted by someone) call HSMO tomorrow to see if he is still there. If he is you'll need to come in to the adoption desk and see if you can adopt him. We open at 10 am tomorrow
Take it to the humane society on Macklind ave, they will find it a good home
Frances, you should call them directly. This is not monitored by the humane society directly.
You need to call the clinic and ask them.
You pay the adoption fee right after you choose the dog you want, his health is checked and then you take him right home. Entire adoption process can take from about 30 mins to over an hour if there are lots of adoptions taking place.
The Humane Society of Missouri no longer puts down animals. If the animal does not get adopted, then they have a forever home there at the Humane Society. If the animal is abusive to any person who takes care of it, or there is some other way the animal can not be taken care of, then the choice to put the animal down will be considered.
Take him to an emergency vet
Agreed. Give them a call. They have plenty of loving animals looking for a forever home.
They are hiding something
Call first
Call and find out
Depends on where you're located? When the dog went missing? Dogs can travel up to 15-20 miles easily in a single day. Was your dog chipped? I'd call the humane society 1st and then animal control for your area. Hit the net post your dogs pic to all the shelter and dog rescue sites.
Yes, I have many times
I was making an appt. for my dog & I asked about the Yorkies. The only thing the woman at the desk told me was that they had had tons of calls. She wouldn't tell me outright other than to say that they were still checking them out as some had issues that needed special addressing. The answer to me seemed like a standard one - applying to anyone who asked. If I were you, I'd go down there & ask in person, ask if there's a list or what you can do to be notified.
If u live in the city its on a pay scale or free. ..on Jefferson ave near Park st.
Did you get food?
Yes, they will have 6 months old and older for free on Thursday only. If you pick out a cat, you better take it that time because they will not hold on to the cat for you. First come first serve basis!
Not usually but for a nominal fee to cover shots spay or neutering it's very reasonable. Also making a donation whether you rescue an animal or not is just the right thing to do.
It should be on the website.
You can always call other places like Webster Groves animal hospital, APA on Hanley, etc to get an idea of what the ballpark for bloodwork panel.
Prices vary. I'd call or visit them yo know the exact number.
Each animal is different. Your best bet would be to call them.
I'm sorry to hear that. I'd recommend calling or emailing them and they should be able to get back to you regarding that.
If he didn't have any kind of tracking device I would say social media. That is how a friend of mine found his dog.
Yes its a lost and found
No
I don't know i have never been inside there
By oct 31st
No the spayin an neutering is only free if your animal has all their shots up to date only b 4 oct 31
Between 21-25 bucks
What ispark????
We, wife and I were there on clear the shelter day and there were no dogs at all when we arrived. Which is a good thing but there could be by now.
Lyn, I've donated cats and dogs to the shelter also, and i know it is a hardship sometimes to care for them...but u donate if u want to, dont feel obligated to donate financially...its up to you...the society will be glad to receive your cats!
