I do understand that parts and manual labor is really expensive but when they do the check on the car tell you exactly what it has they'll tell you what part it's needed therefore you can always buy parts on Amazon and see if somebody can help you out to put it in at least that's what I've done in the past I had no issues Good luck
Sadly you probably don't as many Volvo stereos back then were fiber optic and nearly impossible to upgrade without screwing up a lot of other systems. Check the www.crutchfield.com site and see what your options are. My 04 XC90 has none because of this problem. Good luck.
