We went on one weekday evening around 4pm ,that day also not much crowd was there ...but it always feels good when you see some people around you in such a huge indoor environment .
Not on a Saturday! Lol... we went on a Saturday around noon and stayed for a couple of hours and it was pretty crowded
You may want to call ahead of time and check if there are field trips scheduled. I went with my son on his field trip in May and there were 11 other schools there. That was a crowd.
I have noticed the morning crowd dies down by about 1p. We have gone in the morning and in the afternoon. Around 1p or a little later has light crowds.
I would say as early as possible.
