You can take him to the Norman Animal Shelter and it will accept him for free. Second Chance does not accept drop off animals. If you have any medical history on the dog, take it with you to the Norman Animal Shelter. Given his age, he's more likely to be adopted than an older dog. (However, the older animals can be real sweetie pies. Just depends on the animal.) But start at the Norman Animal Shelter, NOT at Second Chance. Best of luck to you and the doggie.
If you take a dog to a shelter and say they've nipped, bitten, etc, the dog will be killed. Dogs aren't bad, but the growling is warning you to stop your 3 yo from poking, pulling, etc. Too many dogs are killed because people leave young children and pets unsupervised and then freak out when the dog is trying to tell you there's a problem. What it's doing is good. It's warning you before biting. Don't have it murdered because of this.
