I am not a lawyer. However federal regulation require any company to pay its employees for the time the where did a job for them. Commission or not. If you earned it the company must pay you. Sounds like you have a civil case on your hand to me.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. Of course, if the principal transaction that earned the commission (even if only recognized later for whatever reason) was completed while you were still working for the company. It's a different case if you just started it and somebody completed it when you were no longer there.
