I'm struggling, hard, trying to get off heroin,(intravenous use) and its very hard. I'm currently unemployed, with no income. Is there a way I can receive finacial help getting into a methadone/Suboxone clinic? Until I am stable enough to get a job?

This is what i did.... Call to find out what day they have their Methadone orientation/information class and attend. Or ask for chris, he is a therapist in their mental health department. With a referral from the 4th street Clinic Methadone from Project Reality is absolutely free. I dont pay a single penny. Operation Rio grande has allotted a certain amount of money specific for this through the 4th street Clinic. I pay NOTHING. Project Reality takes about a week to get signed up for and you must test positive for opiates during the orientation process to get in. You also receive free therapy from CSW. Free nicotine patches if you attend the weekly group if you want. Cant find all this fee help ANYWHERE and you don't have to rely on anyone like family or churches to do this for you. That's what I did anyways. Stay strong and be safe Lindsay, im cheering for you.

Michael Christensen is right. Project Reality used to be 2 dollars a day but now it's free thru 4th Street. Also, if Sam is still there he is great for mental health. It's been a while since I was a patient there but my doctor used to be Christine Gallup and she prescribed me Suboxone from the clinic. There might still be a physician there who can for you. Suboxone was a much better fit for me, personally. BUT,.....ITS NOT FREE. 4th Street may be able to prescribe it but you still have to come up with the cash to get it from the pharmacy. Heroin addicts are, however, some of the most resourceful people on the planet. Also, Suboxone is special among prescribed meds as you CAN get 1 or 2 or however many doses you can afford out of the pharmacy at a time. I'm not trying to hate on methadone, whatever works right? BUT BE VERY CAUTIOUS WITH METHADONE. Find what works for you but it is possible. I was homeless in SLC for 3 yrs - now going home to TN to buy a home. Thanks 4th Street!
